Well if BTN is conceding to not just forcing it on every customer in the cable provider, then TW's excuse should no longer be an issue. We'll find out who was actually lying now.
Agreed. Now we'll find out who's the punk. My whole problem w/ BTN has been the notion that they would not concede to being on a sports tier. Now that they have conceded what, IMO, they should have all along, we'll see what TW does.

I go back to the day when you were happy to see two football games a week on TV, and watching OSU was a rarity. We have come a long way.

Usually one national game against a big opponent like Stanford with Elway or Oklahoma.....and then The Game.....

I know that is not true for folks who live outside the area, but for the majority of OSU football fans living in Big Ten country the BTN - at this point - is a negative.

Up until last year with the advent of the BTN I watched every OSU game, either on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN+ scenario...last year sucked....

Time Warner Ramping Up Negotiations With Big Ten Network - News - nbc4i.com -

Judy Barbao with Time Warner says next week, after taking several months off, officials will sit down with Fox, the company that owns the Big Ten Network to ramp up negotiations. ?I would say we are optimistic we will have productive talks and we are hopefully we will reach an agreement with big ten network before football season,? Barbao says.

The issues are the same. Barbao says the Big Ten Network is asking for too much money for a spot on basic cable. Meanwhile, officials with the Big Ten Network say more than 200 other cable deals show they're flexible and they want a deal to be reached as well.

I would pay $5 a month extra for the BTN if they would also give me FX and SciFi HD.

I would pay $5 a month extra for the BTN during Spring Practice.

I would pay $50 a month extra for the BTN during Football Season.

Any other time, I would pay $5 a month extra for the BTN if they would also give me $5 a month.

You are far from alone...seemingly in the majority. Therein lies the rub, BTN has a fine product in that they produce High Def stuff and they have football and basketball. But the fact is that most folks only care about what you've listed and many of them don't even care about the spring practice part. Sooo, you have a niche product...hopefully BTN understands that someday.

Any news on Comcast? Sorry I don't read this thread that often.

Here's the first thing I found by a google search.

Comcast, Big Ten Network close to deal

Network would be on extended basic

By Teddy Greenstein |Tribune reporter March 11, 2008 The usual signs of spring? Sidewalk ice melts, Cubs tickets go on sale, the Blackhawks miss the playoffs.

Here's a new one for 2008: The thawing of the cold war between Comcast and the Big Ten Network.

Sources have confirmed a SportsBusiness Journal report that after more than a year of tense negotiations, the sides have agreed on the framework for a deal.

Negotiations continue over issues such as new media and video on demand, but officials expressed a high level of optimism that a deal would be completed, certainly in time for football season.
