Who will be the B1G's next additions?

Just from a selfish standpoint, I really hope Texas never joins the Big Ten because I think the general feeling is Texas tries to "boss hog" everything once they enter the room. At least it feels that way with the Big 12.

Notre Dame might be in the same boat.

But I know money is all that matters to some administrators.

I would reverse it. I think there's a danger of Texas bringing that mentality into the Big Ten. With Notre Dame, there's a god damned certainty of it.

Hmmm, just thought of this (feel free to tell me if it's a dumb idea)....

If we add say UNC, UVA, and GT we get to 15 teams....

If we had 3 divisions of 5 teams you'd play each team in your division and another division for 9 conference games a year. For the conference championship, you could have all 3 winners and the top rated 4th team (or whatever formula you'd want) be the 4th and have a 4 team tourney....it's one more game each but 2 more games for the conference and a lot more $$$. Have the top two teams host it to make it easier as far as planning and organizing.

Semi-finals or any other additional games would require a change in the NCAA bylaws.

Unlike any other conference, save for possibly the PAC-12, the B1G is a conference of equals.

Good to know, never knew a rule was already in place against that....always figured when conferences go to "super" conferences that a semi-final round would make a lot of sense.

Could we leave the last regular season game as TBA and make it the conference semis (and those not playing in the semis getting consolation in conference games) and the the winners of the semis play in the conference championship game to get around changing NCAA rules.

The rule concering conference championship games is part of the rule allowing a 13th game. Among other exceptions, the rule states that a thirteenth game can be a conference championship game between division champions if the conference has a at least 12 members in the conference, at least 6 members in each division, and a round robin schedule within each division. Theoretically, your idea is legal if all the other criteria were met. However, bigdog3000's three division idea wouldn't work because there would only be 5 teams in each division, and the championship game would not always be between division winners.
