18 works well for scheduling, with an even number of opponents in the same division. I went with UVa, UNC, and GT, leaving the last one open.

I selected similarly, but instead of leaving that last one open (since Muck asked us to go with what we thought the B1G would do, not what we want them to do), I went ahead and selected BC as the 18th school for discussion if nothing else.

18 could be anyone from Dook to BC to Syracuse to Vandy to anyone...

I really hope we don't go past 16. Going to 18 or 20 teams will just cause what expansion was supposed to prevent: 2- or 3-way conference title ties, only we'd have them in one or even both divisions instead of the conference. So much for the "true conference champion" ideal, huh...

I know what Notre Dame has said in the past and is likely to say in the future. I don't particularly care for Notre Dame. But adding half of the ACC (the conference to which Notre Dame is partly joining) might change their mind.

One aspect of the entire domer discussion that often gets overlooked is how does it work from the Big Ten's perspective rather than what domer may or may not want. Does the Big Ten truly want domer?

I would say NO. Or at least, the answer should be NO. Integrating a corn aggy or an aqua velva aggy (Rutgers)--both of whom showed up at our door with their bags of cheeseburgers--is not a real problem. Integrating schools such as UVA, GT and in particular UNC might be a more delicate situation. These are schools who weren't necessarily looking to make a jump and in the case of UNC might even show up a little bitter at having been forced to make one. That's a situation ripe for domer manipulation and backdoor (pun fully intended) bullshit. My point is that the Big Ten is going to spend several years establishing the inner workings of the first mega conference and bringing these schools into the fold and into accepting the one-for-all Big Ten culture. Do we really want the most underhanded, manipulative, all-for-me school in the country muddying up the waters?

Based on the TV market size filter they used the last time around, it has to be Georgia Tech. Atlanta is too tempting a market for Delany to pass up. Using the same model who is next? Virginia?

Interesting point that begs a serious question: When Delaney said that the B1G wouldn't do any more TV-market-only additions (or something to that effect); did he mean it?

While Virginia is a decent addition by criteria other than TV market, they are NOT a football addition AT ALL imho. Having added Rutgers and Maryland, I would prefer to skew toward a football addition as long as a certain standard is met by other criteria (Seminoles need not apply).

They're about the only good potential football add left outside of the Domers - hopefully they're not an option at this point. UVA, UNC, Kansas, GT, etc. aren't anything to get excited about.

I'm good with FSU if we pull Hopkins/Toronto as an associate and/or another premium academic to balance it.

I have no idea what the End Game would be for the Big Ten. But I went with adding UVA and UNC and slightly changing the B1G logo to B16. But it would not surprise me if the conference went up to 18 or 20 teams.

Texas being seriously considered again?

I know Texas might seem a long shot, but I think they might be 1 of 4 teams added. There are not enough there we would want for 20.

1. The CIC/AAU factor might be much bigger they we think. Most on these boards are football focused and not part of the higher academia. But this could be a big draw for Texas.
2. The B1G is a conference with like peers for Texas, more so than the Big 12 (I see people there thinking UCF and USF should be added to them!)

UVA, GT, and Vandy would round it out.

I hope the folks take adding teams into consideration when they recreate these divisions. I mean if you're dividing the conference from East to West what happens when you pull three more teams from the East? How many Do overs does the BIG office get to make it right?

I only like Texas because I think it would be fun for Nebraska. It might also make the proposed divisions look a little more balanced.

Before our Cornhusker members start describing exactly how much fun they think it would be to be back in a conference with the very program whose hegemony they were happy to escape; I'm going to give you the opportunity to go back and put that in the sarcasm font.
