Big Ten Conference Divisions

Does this mean everyone goes on a 2-year rotation of not playing teams?

There will be a different 2-year rotation in 2013-14. So for example, tOSU would play (protected-rival) TSUN in those years but not Nebraska and MSU; and presumably 2 of the 3 of Iowa/Minny/NW'ern (who they're missing in 2011-12).

But in 2015, they're planning on going to a 9-game conference schedule, so the rotation could change then.

I like the splits, and more importantly (honestly the only thing I cared about), was that they didn't move The Game.

Any ideas as to what the final division names will be?

Two thoughts:
1) I still think the B10 wants to move The Game. My guess is they are waiting for the outcry if The Game occurs back to back.

2) I think OSU's division is just slightly stronger so if ND joins, ND can head west and a Big East school TBD will join the East.

This is exactly what I predicted except Illinois was swapped for Minny.

Besides the folks that would normally be trying, plus the Buckeye faithful that are trying to book a room without any prompting, I think I know the reason you can't get through. Somebody alerted Buckeye Planet, with it's hundreds of followers. Hmmm, wonder who did that?

Not the problem - they aren't accepting reservations more than 12 months in advance. :wink2:

Doubt that happens any time soon. Michigan's got a long way to go, in my estimation.

I see the division as more "North/South" but I do wonder if this is a temporary alignment in any event - adding ND seems to be the long term plan.... grabbing Texas is still not out of the question, nor is an Eastern school like Rutgers, Pitt or Cuse. So.. then, I'd think it'd be more of an East West split and OSU and Mich would be in the same div.

But, that's just a guess on my part.

Pardon my French, but Nom de Dieu, Fils de putain, un encul?.

We wont always have mulligans in the OSU - Michigan game. Just when it means a God Damn thing.

2006

42-39

One of the all time classics.

And it don't mean [censored] because two weeks later they set that result aside and decide the Big Ten Championship "On the Field".

I am so friggin' [censored]ed!

THERE ARE NO MULLIGANS IN FOOTBALL!!!

Completely agree. While I'm not "pissed" and can "live" with this, it's certainly NOT ideal. That said, I do believe they had already pretty much agreed to move the game before the internet and radio went ballistic (giving some credit, even, to 97.1 the Fan)

Sorry, Ohio State and Michigan being in separate divisions is still stupid. Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like 90% of the "this will be great" talk came out of the Michigan camp. I know I'm bias due to my scarlet glasses but a part of me really feels like those basterds are ducking Ohio State and Penn State because they don't want to become the third best team in their division even when they make it back. They drove the bus on this because they're scared.

They wanted out of the east, not only did they get what that but they got the second best team in the west moved to the east. Seriously do you think Wisco got what they wanted? They are with Ohio State and Penn State, they lost out on being in a division with Iowa and Minnesota. Sure they will get Minny back due to crossover but they don't get Nebraska every year either.

Penn State and Nebraska? Are they great teams? Yes. Are they natural rivals? No. So you take out the Big Red game brought to you by Wrigley's for this? A game played against two very good teams most years but teams that are on the opposite side of the conference? So what are we eventually going to get Iowa/Rutgers Ohio State/Missouri and Wisconsin/Syracuse?

Iowa/Purdue? What the fuck is this, as a Big Ten fan have you ever looked at this game and gone, whoa, I don't care that one of those teams is down I must watch that game for the rivalry. Pathetic, this is bull shit. Lose Wisconsin vs Iowa for Iowa vs Purdue kiss my ass Delany. This isn't just about Ohio State for me, don't get me wrong I love my University and I am proud to be a Buckeye but the entire Big Ten Just got fucked up.

Michigan State/Indiana? who gives a shit a bout that? Well I guess Michigan State is probably fine, FREE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FUCK YOU JIM DELANY AND FUCK YOU MICHIGAN, I DON"T CARE WHAT YOU SAY YOU WANTED THIS JUST AS MUCH AS THAT FUCK ASS DID.

Honestly Ohio State fans are great; however, remember, just don't sit on any burning couches in the middle of intersections.

Pardon me if this has been said before, I didn't read all of the pages of the thread.

At first I was very happy, while I had not expected to want this result, Ohio State playing Michigan the last game of the year in separate divisions only to possibly face each other a week (or maybe two someday?) later, it sounded okay watching the Big Ten TV show. I am easily persuaded. :)

Then I thought: if the match up is meaningful, then that means that it really isn't, as the next weeks game in the championship will matter so much more. Unless, of course, if a team is trying to go undefeated. But then, if that is the case, and if the team seeking to go undefeated loses the championship but wins the regular season match up, it seems like such a hollow loss and season, and sucks.

On the other hand, if they have no hope of playing in the championship against each other, then the ending regular season game is meaningless anyway.

So it will almost always now be meaningless.

That sucks a bit.

Perhaps I will get excited for a new two game system. We'll see.

If Michigan returns to their old form, there are going be a lot of back to back OSU-Michigan games. Pretty retarded if you ask me. One of those those things that gets repeals ultimately, but only after the stupid b[censored]ers let the stupidity play out first.

And, can someone please tell me what's wrong with logical, geographic divisions????

tOSU, PSU, tsun, MSU, IU, Purdue

Ohio, Mich, Penn and Indiana--4 contiguous states. What's not to like?

The fact that you have the three winningest programs in the conference and all three 100K stadiums in one division. Just like Big XII and we all saw how well that worked.

Seriously? The big 12 north was the dominant division when they started out.

I'm looking forward to seeing this all play out. Change is inevitable; this change seems not too bad on the negative, and exciting as all get-out on the positive. Playing Nebraska all the doggone time? Bring it on!

GO BUCKS!
