True but... we beat Scum , Iowa beats us and loses to Scum and here I sit with our highly rated players kind of wondering which is the best team of the 3.jwinslow;1092664; said:If you say so. They are tied in b10 conf losses...
I know that has been argued for years. Maybe it's the coach... Duke's coach or maybe it's Evanston or Tobacco Road. I don't know but Northwestern has always been bad no matter who the coach. Maybe Duke sneak some athletes in under their admissions policy... just a thought:)MaxBuck;1093248; said:Duke's academic status is at least equal to Northwestern's; it hasn't prevented them from being a perennial top-5 team.
All elite academic institutions relax their admission standards for athletes they covet. Duke, Northwestern, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, UPenn -- they all do.LitlBuck;1093260; said:I know that has been argued for years. Maybe it's the coach... Stanford has higher admissions standards then either Duke or Northwestern and look at them in all sports.
Final month: What to watch for

BIG TEN BIDS
For a league as historically strong as the Big Ten, this is shaping up to be a rather weak season when it comes to NCAA Tournament credentials.
The problem is the bottom of the Big Ten, which usually consists of teams ranked from 51-100 in the Ratings Percentage Index, looks more like the Mountain West Conference or the Horizon League, with five teams ranked from 101-200 and Northwestern worse than 201.
When the Selection Committee evaluates the "team sheets" it relies upon for selection and seeding, it will see opponent RPI data broken down into four categories: opponents ranked from 1-50, 51-100, 101-200 and 201-above.

Big night from Gordon lifts Hoosiers

Eric Gordon scored 28 points and broke Indiana's freshman scoring record last night, leading the 13th-ranked Hoosiers to an 80-61 rout of No. 10 Michigan State in Bloomington, Ind.
With coach Kelvin Sampson's job status in question after being accused of five major NCAA infractions Wednesday, Indiana (21-4, 10-2) desperately needed a victory to stay in contention for the Big Ten title and to salvage something from one of the bleakest weeks in the program's history.
No. 19 Purdue 71, Northwestern 56 -- Freshman E'Twaun Moore scored a season-high 28 points and Purdue (21-5, 12-1) won in Evanston, Ill., to remain in first place.
No. 15 Wisconsin 65, Minnesota 56 -- Marcus Landry scored 12 points to lead five Wisconsin players in double figures against Minnesota in Madison, Wis.
Penn State 52, Illinois 51 -- Talor Battle hit two free throws with seven seconds left for Penn State (12-12, 4-8) in State College, Pa.
Status of IU's White uncertain
The status of Indiana senior forward D.J. White, who injured his left knee Saturday night against Michigan State, remained muddy Sunday as university medical staff awaited further evaluation.
White grabbed the back of his left leg above the knee with 4:55 to play in the first half of Saturday's 80-61 victory over the Spartans. White did not return to the game.
He was scheduled to have a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test early Sunday, but medical equipment issues forced the test to be postponed until later in the day.
A university release Sunday said White is taking treatment for the knee and an update is expected today. IU hosts Big Ten leader Purdue on Tuesday.
