That professor may not have been wrong. Though, I don't know which school it was, or whether any might be worth $50M. But ESPN didn't feel the remaining schools were worth an average of $50M.
I really get annoyed when these reporters just say things and make it so no one can ever figure out if they're right or wrong. Which Pac-12 president? I mean, I can say that a Pac-12 president farts in his dog's mouth. But I can pretend to be a reporter, so I'm honoring his anonymity. I won't tell you which one. Now, something else is going to come out about a Pac-12 president and all people are going to do is wonder if that's the one who likes to fart in his dog's mouth.

Heard rumblings about Walter Cronkite School which is ASU and their president was also a friend of the commish. Could also be Wazzu as they purportedly were leading the charge against the "lowball" offer. In the end all the school's are at fault for letting Scott go unchecked.

Wazzu had been overspending for awhile (ala Mike Leach) and was desperate. The PAC fucked themselves and as much as I dislike SC they were the first to realize it and would have gone independent if a suitor couldn't be found. Mostly I feel bad for the Beavs (who have had numerous presidents and not much leadership the last few years--and are one of the four founding members of the PAC)...they just remodeled their stadium and it will be awful tough to fill and pay for with Mountain West money.

In a word, No. He's the President of a 10 campus system that equals the entire B1G in academic prestige. Only two of those campuses are fbs, and they have been delegated authority to manage their own athletic affairs. I'd bet the UC President has as much frustration with the Regents (who are political creatures) as anyone.
