Things are going well in PAC 12 land. Yikes.

Sounds like rent is due and WSU ain’t got what they thought.

Full statement.

Washington State president Kirk Schulz says WSU athletics will have “temporary freeze on all current & future vacant positions until further review, as well as a pause on non-essential travel, purchases & new professional development” because of “significant decrease in Pac-12 revenue distribution as result of overpayments from one of the conference media partners that must be resolved. Relocation of the Pac‑12 headquarters out of San Francisco exceeded budget projections as well. Additionally, WSU projects that Cougar Athletics exceeded its expenditures for the year due to inadequate documentation of revenues and expenses.”

I like how that last part lowkey suggests fraud, but nobody cares - the GAs on welfare wages will be even more overworked and underpaid.

Miami is now AAU.

Notre Dame being AAU, is a non-factor IMO, B1G would not care either way. ASU is interesting in terms of travel partnerships only, prob a non starter, but dies have Phoenix market.

The AD side wouldn't care, but both faculties (and thus quite possibly numerous Presidents / Chancellors / Archbishops / whatever) were opposed the last time this was serious.
Citing that it wasn't a cultural fit for either existing B1G or ND.

Bringing them into AAU... and the passing of 20ish years... i think it solidly puts that to rest.

Miami is .... Wat?
Maybe that does open the door for them too.
Suddenly there's a little more competition for UW and Nike.
ASU isnt unthinkable either. If they prioritize ND, lets say, ASU being a 3rd close location for USC and UCLA makes some sense.

I still think Stanford is the natural partner for ND. They play a lot Academics is off the chart and they get you into the bay area. They are competitive a lot of sports just not the big 3 very often. See directors cup

Catholics vs Convicts for 6th place in the Big Ten. Feel the excitement!

With the 40 some odd years that have passed since the coining of that phrase, you really have to ask "which one is the convicts?"

I mean yeah, one place cheated on PELL Grants but the other place had a coach kill a kid.

I have no way to know who's faith has lapsed more.

Well both are tax exempt and seem rapey.

Miami has a bunch of venal sins. Mostly related to hookers and blow kind of stuff including all forms of player payoffs.

ND on the other hand sounds like they are applying for a job in Headly Lamar’s posse. Murder, rape (co-Ed), grade cheating and rape (kids and priest kind). I guess they like rape but most definitely to the mortal sin end of the spectrum.

Both schools have equally douchy fans so that’s a draw.

Yeah, but Miami douches embrace their villain role, which deserves a bit of respect. Domer douches think they're the most holy and pure thing to ever grace college football.

NBC Sees Big Ten Being ‘NFL of College Conferences’
  • NBC would televise prime time Big Ten/NFL games on Saturday/Sunday nights.
  • Big Ten could follow the successful broadcast TV model of the NFL.
NBC has already pushed the idea of combining Big Ten telecasts with its existing Notre Dame coverage as a “perfect one-two punch.”

Now, as rights negotiations with the conference near the finish line, NBC is proposing a strategy that calls for back-to-back, prime-time Big Ten and NFL games on Saturday and Sunday nights, said sources.
  • NBC is pitching a fall Saturday football schedule that includes triple-header coverage of Big Ten games on Fox, CBS, and NBC from early afternoon to night.
  • The slate would be followed by NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” the most-watched show in prime time for a record 11 straight years.
“The Big Ten would have exposure in every TV home,” said one source. “It would also be a smart idea to follow the model of the most successful sports league in America.”

NBC, ESPN, and Amazon declined to comment on negotiations. The Big Ten did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Billion-Dollar Deal
The Big Ten is expected to command at least $1.25 billion annually for its next media rights deal from bidders including NBC, Amazon, ESPN/ABC, and CBS Sports. The winner will air games alongside Fox Sports, the conference’s primary TV partner and an operating partner in the Big Ten Network.

That would be a huge B1G recruiting advantage over the other conferences....

GENE SMITH DOESN‘T ANTICIPATE OHIO STATE HAVING A FOOTBALL GAME ONLY ON PEACOCK THIS YEAR, BUT FELT BIG TEN HAD TO “TEST THE WATERS” IN STREAMING

It’s only a matter of time before Ohio State will play a football game that’s only available on Peacock, but Gene Smith doesn’t expect that to be in 2023.

Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State already know they will play a game broadcast only by Peacock this fall, as the Big Ten announced last week that the Wolverines’ season opener against East Carolina, Nittany Lions’ second game against Delaware and Spartans’ Week 3 non-conference game against Washington will all be exclusive to the NBC-backed streaming platform.

The Big Ten’s new TV deal stipulates that eight football games each year will be exclusive to Peacock, which means there will still be five more to-be-determined Big Ten games this season that air only on the streaming platform. That said, the two Ohio State games that were seen as the most likely candidates for a Peacock game this year – its non-conference games against Youngstown State and Western Kentucky – have already been scheduled for Big Ten Network and FOX, respectively.

Ohio State still has six conference games for which TV networks have yet to be announced (Maryland, Purdue, Penn State, Wisconsin, Rutgers and Minnesota), so the possibility of the Buckeyes playing a Peacock-only game this season still can’t be ruled out. But it would catch Ohio State’s athletic director by surprise if that happens at this point.

He does expect several of Ohio State’s men’s basketball games to be exclusive to Peacock this year, though, as the Big Ten’s new TV deal allows for up to 47 games each year (32 conference games and 15 non-conference games) to be broadcast exclusively on the streaming platform.

Just sayin': The definition of SUCKS = when an Ohio State football away game is just on the Peacock Network.
