I never wanted to see the 16 team super conferences but since that ship has sailed I would think Iowa State and Missouri would be logical choices for the B1G to pursue.

Geographically they fit, they have rivals in our conference and both are members of the AAA fitting the academic profile of every member of the B1G Conference. Kansas also meets those criteria, assuming Mizzou joins, as they are also an AAA institution. Rutgers, rumored in the past to have been B1G candidates is also an AAA school. Kansas State is not, nor is West Virginia.

I'm looking at who is likely available moreso than who I would like to see join. I am assuming Texas and Oklahoma (along with Okie State and Tech) are headed to the PAC. That pretty much means Big XII refugees, and perhaps Big East.

Just heard on the local news that the UT board has given the UT president the power to stay in the Big 12 but not to seek a different conference. They want to keep that right. No link yet because I heard it on the news.

EDIT: Looks like the report might have been wrong. Other sources reporting the opposite.

I hate this, I'm sure Texas is gone, I hate Notre Dame, I Ioathe the thought of Rutgers in the BIG. Let's just stay at 12 if not then go for Missouri and Kansas take Virginia just to piss off the ACC and then let's take Kentucky just to show the SEC we can do what we want when we want.

I have a feeling the Big Ten is being much more proactive than we know.

I have a feeling that they are more proactive towards Texas and ND and that is it. Right now each school is getting 22 million (correct this if I am wrong) from TV deals. Any school they add would have to be able to hold up their end and add 22 million per year to the worth of the B1G. Nebraska is going to build the B1G brand to cover themselves. Would a combination of Kansas, Mizzu or Rutgers bring in an extra 440 million (adding two schools to keep the even number and conference title) over 10 years? I do not think so. Oklahoma might, but they do not fit into the academic standards Jim Delany is looking for. As we have discussed earlier, this more about research money than football, but schools do not want to lose money from the water downed revenue sharing that two more schools will effect. That is why I feel it will be Texas/ND addition or nothing.

They gave him the Power to do what is best of UT athletics .. including withdrawing from the BIG XII.... If its up to Powers... their going Pac 12.... he's a Cali grad... guess he wants to go back home .... its a mistake from their stand point... People on the west coast dont care about their own teams even when they are winning....

Here is a link to an AP report http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-conferencerealignment

Also talk of Big East Big 12 merger. Who ever is left that is. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-conferencerealignment-leftout&active_dimension=carousel_ncaab_top_headlines&ysp_frm_woah=1

Assuming TX and OU go west, I only want to go to 14 - and that's if only if ND is one of those 2 teams.

I know Delaney wants to increase the footprint of the BTN, but I hope he recognizes that:

-diluting the conference with middle of the road football teams will hurt the conferences image and bowl tie-ins (which will still be a factor even if we go to a playoff)

-Short of ND/TX, none of the other schools will bring in the revenue to make 1/16 of pie > 1/12 of the current pie.

It's not like we need to expand to be at the table when the plus one system goes into place just because Ohio State doesn't have to beat Rutgers to get to the conference championship game.

My bet is the the B1G does nothing.
