Northwestern is usually at the front of the pack when it comes to 'ranking' academics in the B1G.
Pretty sure knapplc meant Nebraska when he said NU.

And this is why they're at the bottom. :pFCollinsBuckeye;1995359; said:Pretty sure knapplc meant Nebraska when he said NU.

It's important to nip this shit in the bud otherwise in 20 years we'll have another group of whinging PSU fans talking about conspiracies engineered by the conference to keep them down & demanding eastern 'rivals' (ie teams they can beat) that they never really gave a shit about before.
Besides a spelling primer will help them with their academic goals.
Northwestern University = NU =/= University of Nebraska at Lincoln
When kinch said "fans I meat", he was only talking about the ones he has sex with.Muck;1995358; said:

kinch;1995356; said:Just to add to the "fans in NYC" concept, the fans here are almost all transplants. Most people here went to Ivy, city (like CUNY) or NY State schools: none of whom care about football at the college level. Rutgers people just don't care, but must exist, though I've only met one graduate-- and he didn't care about football. Almost all the fans I meat are B1G graduates, generally Ohio State, Michigan, and some Wisconsin. I've met a few Maryland, BC, and Florida ones too. That is about it.
Oh, and a couple Big 12 people, Texas and Oklahoma. By "met" for the Big 12 folks I am including seeing their T-Shirts on the street, so they could be tourists given where I work.
Woody1968;1995376; said:Hell, I even lived in Jersey City at one point, and didn't meet any Rutgers fans. I have known far more Syracuse fans.
Interestingly, one of the local cable sports channels airs a weekly show on Penn State football.
kinch;1995380; said:I saw that too, and more interestingly, I have yet to meet a Penn State fan either. Just anecdotal of course. But 10 years of going out to watch football? Also, I think Penn State was the only University with one of those shows.
To add to my earlier post: NYU and Boston University are the "Ohio State" like schools here. Maybe Binghamton (sp?) too. And Cornell. None of these, again, care about college football. It just isn't in the local blood, period.
Edit: Last thing on the culture of college football here: it makes things hilarious. There are Ohio State bars that we would go to. We would of course all have Buckeye necklesses on, etc. We'd congregate outside on breaks, and people would cross the street to avoid us thinking we were some kind of pagan cult or something.

I have a feeling that the Big Ten needs to be a lot more proactive than they are being.
