I know your bustin my balls Maxbuck but in reality...the better the product the better the ratings. Plain and simple...those projections are nice and those markets are big but if the product sucks nobodys gonna watch no matter whos playin. No degree in Marketing just using common sense.

For sure. I am very sure that Texas fans are quite pleased with the prospects of Bevovision. I would be if it were Brutusvision... and as a college football fan, I will probably catch the occasional Texas game (assuming the channel is provided for free on my provider). But - and even considering UT's large alumni base - there's a relatively small market share at issue out there for Bevovision. The BTN works because it's 11 (now 12) teams and their fans, sprawled out across the nation in demand, not one.

But, the average fan is not tuning in for Texas v. sisters of the poor. The only game I can think of which will draw a national audience is Tejas v. Tejas-Norman.... and maybe Tejas v. TAMU (due in no small part to the date it occurs (being the "only show in town" as it were). And I figure those games aren't Bevovision games anyway.

Turning the attention to the prospect of untold millions for games like Kansas v. Kansas State, Baylor v. Mizzu, TTU v. TAMU etc.. No one is going to give a shit. There's no national draw... I'm not even sure there is regional draw (setting aside fans of the participants). Whatever "promises" and "projections" which Bebee is selling seems delusional at best.
Im still confused as to why we're talking about this as a done deal... have the negotiations surrounding TV contracts, and the diligence that ensues, even started? I know parties have, what? verbally? agreed in principal or maybe even exchanged some term sheets, but I don't recall any final contracts being signed for the B12 network(s)... am I missing something?
Texas has a pretty big incentive to keep the Big 12 alive for at least two more years and collect its share of CU/NU's revenue. That might be the key point in regard to keeping it a done deal.

I'm pretty sure that ABC/ESPN is asking for a ten year commitment to justify their investment. Smart thing to do for a conference held together by duct tape and Aggy jizz jars.

Of course that flies in the face of what some folks are speculating, re: Texas having blown any shot of joining the Big 10...

I don't think anyone is speculating that they blew their chances, just that they seriously need to readjust their demands if they expect the Big 10 to consider admitting them

That's definitely a fair point... though you have to wonder if they are factoring the risk of losing negotiation leverage as other conferences move on without them, though, if anything is clear, the UT athletic department probably feels their leverage grows going foward... I'm not sure that would be the case, esp if the B10 gets to 16 by going east, and the SEC follows suit by raiding the ACC. Only one place to go at that point for UT, unless it wants the B12 to be a platform for picking up dogs and cats...

Well, in their risk analysis, they probably realize that JD doesn't appear to be in a particular hurry. I really wish he'd (JD that is) would go ahead and offer Mizzu though. I have to believe taking one more school would set it all back in motion now and UT would have little to no choice but to play ball. Of course, maybe the loss of Mizzu wouldn't fold the house of cards - what's the difference of a conference of 10 with Mizzu and 9 without?

Maybe JD oughta offer TAMU instead.... as I think about it, that's probably a better play, if he wants to get it done now rather than take his time.

I don't know.. the difference between St. Louis TV sets and program prestige (whether I respect said prestige or not)

Nebraska adds national appeal as well. Down here in Bama for some reason they love PSU...I guess because they had a rivalry with them. Nebraska is well thought of here as well probably because they have owned the SEC traditionally. I'm not sure Texas realizes that Nebraska may lose viewers in the Plains but it will probably gain that and more in B10 and SEC country. I have talked to alot of SEC fans (not the media) and they are very happy the B10 is now 12 teams.

I wonder what the B10 will do the next time they negotiate contracts with ABC/ESPN ESPECIALLY WHEN THE RATINGS SORE because of kickass match-ups during the regulkar season like Neb-OSU...ETC.

I KNOW THE MEDIA IN THE IN SOUTH is dissing this but IMO the fans of the SEC appreciate what the B10 has done. Thats the reaction I'm getting and I'm not sure if the impact of this will be known until a full season is over or right away...IMO the B10 just gained alot of viewership from SEC fans that once cared about the B12 more. We will see.

I really doubt the Big 10 was going to kowtow to their demands in the first place (maybe the # of conference games required at most).

I've never heard of that until this thread, and I sure as hell won't be googling that, let alone imagining what the [censored] it could be. :sick1:

I've seen it referenced numerous times on Shaggy Bevo. It's real, but I have no desire to find out what the hell it is.

OK, I googled it. Apparently, the cadets all whack off into a glass jar that gets set on top of the bonfire. The "jizz jar" is to symbolize that Texas is teh ghey. Because, let's face it; the guys dressed up in soldier costumes having a circle jerk are the epitome of heterosexuality.
This is just thinking out loud, not real optimism or conspiracy theory, but...

...isn't UT perfectly positioned to do whatever it wants at this moment? UT just stood up and became the "savior of the B12" (despite some grumbling about the terms), so it looks great amongst its mid-country brethren. Now if this non-existent TV deal falls through due to...well, not ever existing... the conference can re-dissolve, and Texas can go wherever it wants. UT now knows that it can likely go without Baylor and no one would care... without aTm, which wants to go to the SEC anyway... and would only have to figure out how to get rid of TT, which was hesitant about towing the UT line about the TV deal...

If this mythical deal does work out, UT gets rich AND powerful and has time to reassess its future options, all while collecting fat, stupid checks...
But, but... Those "fat, stupid checks" are all speculative and estimated right now, despite all the press releases from both Beebe and Dodds/Brown touting them. No new television contract has been negotiated and signed, nor is it expected to for another year.

Meanwhile, Nebraska Chancellor Perlman is on record as saying he doesn't think any separation penalties are appropriate.
During a Tuesday morning appearance on KLIN?s (1400 AM) radio show ?Jack & John in the Morning,? Perlman said he hoped to resolve the issue amicably.

He also noted that there isn?t a penalty provision in the Big 12 bylaws.

?There is a liquidated damages provision that purports to make the existing members whole,? Perlman said. ?But from how I see the financial arrangement that they?ve been able to achieve, they?re better off than they were when we were in it.?
In other words, all the press releases about alllllllllll the money the remaining members will be getting, may end up shooting the Big 12 in the foot. Will be interesting for sure.

Just pay 'em their money, Husker. Remember, you're in the Big Ten now. We wipe our asses with million dollar bills.
