The Big XII may have been closing in on an improved TV contract.

Fox Sports Wants to Marry the Big 12

Some of the rumor details:
  • Fox has engaged the Big 12 AD?s with a plan for massive expansion on the current Big 12 television contract
  • Fox has proposed extending the current TV contract up to 2030
  • Fox has proposed a nationally televised ?Big 12 Game of the Week?
  • The Big 12 would have to stay intact for the contract to be valid, with Nebraska a must-have (no word on Mizzou)
  • The deal would probably include some sort of alliance with the Pac-10 for ?made for TV? match-ups (think USC-OU every few years, Texas-Oregon, etc.)
  • This would effectively narrow the revenue gap between the Big 12 and the Big 10/SEC, making a Big 12 member team?s move to another conference not as attractive
What?s it all mean ? options, options, options. Something else for Tom Osborne and Nebraska to consider. If the money problem is solved, then it?s an entirely different decision for the Huskers, one would think.

I don't believe it, but this is college football.

Alright Delany, you slapped that big thing onto the picnic table and the slutty farm girl chick who was kinda hot a few years ago came running. Good so far. Now let's see how the smokin' hot chick in the Catholic school girl outfit and the smokin' hot chick in the burnt orange ass-less chaps comes running. In the meantime, we'll be looking at the hot--but seriously stoned--ski bunny and the hot--but kinda dumb--jersey shore chicks.

What about the homely--midwestern chick? You know, the one we're hoping doesn't realize how much we REALLY want to be with her.

Jim Delaney's favorite TV show quote:

I love it when a plan comes together.

Well,we've got Nebraska and we have Missouri anytime we want them. If we get Notre Dame to commit I can see us reeling in Mizzou and calling it a day unless Texas and A&M respond quickly. If Texas decides it might not want to join we still have 14 with ND and Mizzou. Thats plenty.

The Big12 could easily still exist by addition. Not many people are talking about adding TCU but I think they're a great fit, imo. Some have said it and some arent talking about it at all. The wildcard in this situation could be none other than Boise State. The other sports bring little to the table but the football conference, at least as far as Boise are concerned, would be just what they've been screaming for. The chance to finally get a shot at playing with the big boys.

Boise is a step down from Mizzou and Nebraska but the conference can stay together that way. I just dont think the big boys are going to want to settle so Texas holds the Big12's future in its hands right now. Got to be very scary if you're Oklahoma and Texas Tech right now.

Nebraska to Big Ten done deal, ND not so likely.

According to the Chicago Tribune

A source with knowledge of the expansion talks has confirmed to the Tribune that Nebraska will be invited to apply for Big Ten membership, a mere formality in the process. An announcement is expected Friday.
The league has not determined, the source said, whether it will remain at 12 schools or expand to 14.
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said Sunday that the league "could act and act again" -- meaning that expansion could occur in phases. . .

A source at Notre Dame, though, indicated that the school likely has "moved on," with another saying that a top Notre Dame official assured the Big East that it intends to keep teams such as men's and women's basketball in the league.

If that's the case, the Big Ten appears likely to cap at 12 teams.

Part of the Big Ten's motivation to add only one school is its desire to avoid being viewed as responsible for causing college football Armageddon.

I'm all for adding Nebraska now, dividing up the east from the west, putting together a CCG and moving from there. When the Big Ten goes from being the most lucrative TV conference by a good margin, to being the most lucrative TV conference by a LONG shot, the bitches...they will come runnin'.

Well, if that's the case then good luck to ND when further consolidation occurs. They'll have only themselves to blame if, say, everyone gets tired of their relentless arrogance and says "no thanks" in the future. It would be a real pity if they got locked out of a 4 16 team conference scheme. Of course, such a scenario wouldn't change their irrelevance, but only further cement it.

I have to say, I love it when a bunch of assholes actively works to dig themselves further into a hole.

Reports from woodward and bernstein radio show (not chip brown himself though), the PAC man alliance makes sense because it allows them to keep geographic rivals. Personally at this point who knows whats gonna happen but don't rule out UT putting the screws to OK and leaving them twisting in the wind.

I still can't figure out why the Big 12 isn't viable without Nebraska, the north division has always been a joke. Its more of an excuse than anything.

I'm ready for the crap to be over... the economy is still to bad for me to be wasting so much time on this :)

side note, I can't believe some of the universities in the Pac 10 would be willing to taint there academic reputations by letting a few of these schools in. You can polish it all you want but a PoS is still a PoS
