One thing that I don't think has been mentioned ... what would be in it for Texas to goto the Big Pac? Anyone think the current Pac-10 is going to allow the CCG to be moved to JerryWorld? Hell no, the Big Pac's CCG will be in LA.

If I'm Texas, I think I'd rather take my chances playing Ohio State or Penn State in Indy.

Man, seriously would we cave that much? it makes me want to vomit.:sick1:

On a side note, I don't think UT fans or alumni could handle the Big Ten crowds "rudeness" (anyone remember the game in Columbus). They expect us to be polite and proper, most are even that way with there "hated rival" OU...

The Pac-10 is in a bad situation. USC penalties are imminent and possibly significant. Their other marquee program is having to kick players off the team left and right. That doesn't look good to Texas if all the Pac-10 can offer is the potential of a big contract.

Its Texas they have a complex, they thing they are bigger, badder, and better than everyone. With USC in hot water and Oregon rivaling the Bengals for most people arrested, there is no one to contest them. They want to be the biggest fish in a small pond, they want the biggest slice of pie (money) and they don't wanna share. According to what was posted (Nebraska could be first domino in summer of madness - Matt Hayes - College Football - Sporting News) the Pac man shares revenue based on how many times its on TV not just an even split.

plus it will be easier to win...

Shameless self plug because, well, I'm shameless :)

Article more focused on how Nebraska ended up where they are now (Big 12 TV contracts) and the affect on some other conferences, i.e. SEC, ACC, Big East since they aren't as often discussed.

By now you probably realize there are two types of people in this world; those who are sick and tired of expansion talk and those who are addicted to it. Odds are if you are a college football yoohoo (that's a compliment!) than you can't get enough of it. It's so addicting I haven't had the urge to smoke a cigarette in the last two weeks (the fact that I didn't smoke to begin with I feel is irrelevant)! With the first concrete sign of super conference expansion to likely be announced on Friday by Nebraska as they look towards their future in the Big Ten, we're about to tell you what this move implies for the likes of other schools such as Notre Dame and what other conferences next moves will be, like the SEC's.

I understand that, but I think if it were really that cut-and-dried, they wouldn't be so willing to fold the conference if Nebraska walks. They're not going to get anything better than what they've already got unless they trade up and learn to play nice.

I agree completely Dryden, but the guys on the radio today were like.... oh man you ready for those west coast trips, sure beats Ames Iowa in the winter. They think the grass is greener. I think in the end, a lack of a team in the Eastern Timezone will hurt, because when they play Southern Cal/Oregon/any other team on the west coast its gonna be 1am before it finishes, Maybe NBC will pay big bucks for that, they are a little loony considering the whole ND deal.

Plus once they look at the non-football budge being blown out of the water they might think twice. I'd heard it suggested that they might keep Football and Basketball in a conference but go independent in all other sports.

Bassbuckeye07 - NOW I get it... Gatorubet chiming in triggered that stomping to the front of my memory:)

Officials Scrambling to Save Big 12, Which May Lose 2 Teams - NYTimes.com

In a telephone interview Wednesday evening, Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe said there was "nothing official" to report on Nebraska. He said there had been a lot of misinformation throughout the months of rumblings of conference realignment and said there was a will within the conference to remain together.

"I think there's a strong, strong interest to ensure that the Big 12 exists, regardless of any kind of possible departures," Beebe said.

He added that the conference would not rule out carrying on without a conference football title game; N.C.A.A. rules require 12 members for such a game.

"It would be one less obstacle to getting into the national championship," Beebe said. "I think television value would still be there. I'm not talking about any specific school that would be departing. It would still be an extremely strong conference and player in the national landscape."

Translation: "Mack, you always said you hated the CCG. Guess what? If you don't leave you won't have to play in one."

I suppose I should have put it in the Mill... but we didn't get to 200+ pages without a lot of rumors here, too. And yes, I admit I took full part in it. This is crack in a bag to me.

I wasn't trying to be an ass. I had lost the page that I copied everything from and didn't have time to go back and retrieve it. Sorry.

man woodward and bernstein paint this as the cuban missile crisis of college football, saying that even though people have denied all the statements they've made they are still correct. It would be priceless if their information was proven wrong.

Me neither... was just trying to explain why I put it there and be a little self depricating afterward.

Holding out slim hope for Texas and A&M tomorrow......
