Best WR corp in College Football!

WTF? It's 12:05 am Christmas Day and you yayhoos are arguing about college WRs. Open presents. Play with your kids (if they're still up). Drink some egg nog. Watch Santa fall on his fat ass. Give BP a break for a few hours. Oh, before you say anything, it's still 7:05 pm Christmas Eve here...

Yeah, but there is still a go-to guy and Ginn is that guy. There is such a thing as a #1 reciever.

So you are honestly telling me that it is not even debatable that Gonzo is the "go to guy?"

Have you watched any gamesthis year or are you just trying to look this foolish?

Sure, Gonzo is the go-to guy sometimes like on 3rd down but usually Troy looks for Ted Ginn first. You're pointing out exceptions not the norm.

Finished wrapping presents 30 minutes ago; Santa drank the egg nog and ate the cookies (now wonder he's so damn fat!). Now it's time for Santa to drink some beer.

...and one more time I will ask you, how do you know this? Do you understand how a QB read works? Im not giving you an exception...Im trying to tell you how football actually works.

You are talking in circles now...

I had first party last night with the inlaws, went to church 5 hours ago, opened one present afterwards. and had a big dinner. Tomorrow is Christmas with my family and I had a 5 hour nap today. Besides as you well know we bper's ( If I may be so brazen as to refer to myself as that yet) love to argue. Especially football.

Then you are just wrong. Ginn and Jarett are their respective teams' #1 reciever. That's not even really debatable. They are the #1 targets.

osugrad21;696479; said:
Sure it is...I could see a good case for both of them.

OregonBuckeye;696482; said:
No, I mean they just aren't. You can argue that Gonzo is better than Ginn(though he isn't) and Smith is better than Jarett but that doesn't change the fact that Ginn and Jarett are #1 recievers.

osugrad21;696499; said:
How so? Can you please explain this bit of football to me please? Are they simply #1 receivers because they get the most hype or can you specifically tell me that they are the #1 read/option on a majority of plays?

I think you are letting your opinion get in the way of simple logic.

As alreay noted, a lot of Ginn's touches are from the screens we throw to him -- and also the reason his YPR isn't very good. So I think there is an argument to be made for Gonzalez. I personally have him as #1 just because he is TS' favorite target on 3rd and long.
As for Smith -- he pretty much is their #1: more receptions, more yards, more YPR. The only thing Jarrett has over him is 2 TDs. I suppose you could argue that Jarrett missed a game, though.
Anyway, the fact that it's very debatable who is the #1 receiver for Ohio State and USC and there is no such debate whatsoever in regard to Michigan only helps my point in the end.

OregonBuckeye;696504; said:
What don't you understand? Ginn=#1 option on Ohio St. Jarett=#1 option of USC(unless that's changed with his injury). I'm not talking about who is better.

osugrad21;696510; said:
According to whom? Your PS2? Where do you get they are the #1 options? I want you to explain where you get this fact.

See, the way football works, there could actually be a different #1 receiver on every passing play based on pre-snap reads, coverage, match-ups, adjustments to motion, etc.

For you to blindly proclaim anyone as the absolute #1 WR is completely misghuided and lacking in any form of actual knowledge. I would ask you what it is that you do not understand...but I think you have already shown that.

All this and not one Pete's #1 guy joke? Really?

You could easily say the same about Breaston. Sorry, but OSU's WR corps is better than anyone's in the country:

Ginn > Manningham
Gonzo > Arrington
Robo > Breaston
Hartline > Mathews
Hall > Dutch

That needed to be said again. Ditto.
