BCS predictions/discussion/Knock Em' Off

When Appalachian State beat Michigan I was flabbergasted. When Notre Dame beat UCLA I was preplexed... by the time Stanford beat USC and LSU lost to Kentucky I finally got it: This year no team is safe and no team is unbeatable. Until we lost to Illinois I thought Ohio State would be in the national championship game against a 2 loss team... I still do. Nobody out there has shown me they are that much better than the teams on their schedule so I for one won't be shocked if every team above us loses another game. As a matter of fact, I expect it but I won't be dissapointed if I'm wrong.

I honestly believe since everyone has got their chance to blow off the blueballs on OSU's loss to Illini, we can leap frog West Virgina.

It seems everyone I hear on TV or the radio want to see OSU go to the BCS champ game now. Everyone felt cheated and threatened by OSU since last year, it seems now that we have a loss everyone believes we are human again and now people want to start pushing for OSU. Has anyone else felt/seen this yet?

I believe it released alot of tension and anger towards us on Nov 10th.

How does OSU leapfrog WVU without playing? The only way we get by the Mountaineers now is if they lose.

It's a shame that Vandy missed the FG at the end of regulation. I really thing UGA would have beat LSU farely handily.

Big 12 cancellation occurs with Oklahoma winning out.

I don't think WVU can lose (Cincy was that shot). Maybe UConn can prove me wrong.

or if they look like shit vs Uconn and Pitt or if they win those and White or Slayton gets hurt(1973 scenario). Nothing we are discussing here is likely so I think you have to mention anything thats even possible.

First things first, the B12 South team MUST win the B12 CG. Then and only then, we need either LSU or WVU to lose 1 game of their combined last 4.

All in all I'd say a 1 in 4 shot on top of a fully healthy OU winning the B12 isn't that big of a miracle at all. The "miracles" are out of the way with the 2 OU's losing.

Ohio and Oklahoma? :p It's UO. :wink2:

Duely noted.

BTW am I correct in assuming we are better served having Kansas lose the B12 North game this week? They have a better computer ranking than we do so I'm assuming a loss by them might open the door for some more 'puter love?

I dont really think it matters, they both have to lose and I cant really see how the order matters. Missouri losing would put us at 4 in both polls which would bring us closer to WVU, while Kansas losing would move us up in the computers and SHOULD vault Missouri ahead of WV. Either way though, both have to lose.

Still think that even if WVU wins against Pitt and UConn by 1 point each they stay ahead of us in both human polls. Not saying it is right. (if you look at both teams bodies of work.) I agree anything is possible the way things have shaken out this season.

Also if Missouri wins it makes Illinois look a little better, thus making our loss to them a little less of a blow in the computer polls.

"A" one-loss team? Of course. Not us though.

Agreed. The universal rule for a NC amongst every sportswriter and coach is that 2 losses eliminates you.

They will not jump a 1 loss team for a shot at a NC, they may jump a 1 loss team with no NC consequences.

WEEK 2 Teams to root for:

Arkansas (+13) @ L.S.U___(Friday)__

At 7-4 this will be the final regular season game for Coach Houston Nutt. The Razorbacks are lead by Darren "Run DMC" McFadden. DMC was a heisman finalist last year and should return to NYC this year. His running mate Felix Jones averages 9.1 yards per carry and has ran over 1,000 yards with 11 td's... this to go with DMC's over 1,500 and 12. Jones hasn't played the last two games with a deep thigh bruise, but may be back this week. The Hawgs only solid win was against South Carolina in a shootout.

University of Conneticut (+17) @ West Virgina

The 9-2 Huskies try and play spoiler this week. Their 2 losses come on the road.... a one point loss to a solid Virgina team, and a whooping in the hands of Cincinatti. UCONN takes care of the ball and plays tough D. A win would give UCONN an outright Big East title and a BCS bowl bid.... so, they have a lot riding on the game too.

Missouri (+2) @ Kansas________

So here's what it boils down to. Oklahoma will have their hands full with Oklahoma State, while Texas, seemingly has an easier foe in A&M. Oklahoma is Mizzou's only loss by 10. Kansas has played neither. So, I would say root for Kansas to beat Mizzou and Oklahoma to beat OSU. Oklahoma goes to the Big 12 Championship with a win. Kansas vs. Oklahoma would be the best receipe for OSU. Mizzou is more battle tested and would be looking for vengance on the Sooners.... while Texas is not Texas.
