Your avitar. Beat a different team with different players in a different year to get redemption for a loss that happened in the past... ??? I do not get it...

It's about regaining national respect. LSU is just the team that is in the path and we're damned glad that it's against an SEC team.

Agreed I think/hope it will be a major distraction....besides as the wise lou holtz said " what about all the others on the lsu staff that may bolt as well to take better positions on a new staff at nebraska"

I think thats gotta be apart of it too

Yeah its never a good thing to have other stuff to be worried about while preparing for a big game. Unfortunately look at Troy's performance and the line's performance after all those dinners and going early to "sight-see". That is NEVER going to happen again. Tress won't let it.

Bo Pellini could be that guy this year. Keep talking up that defense.

edit: and Les isnt a defensive guy is he?

Nope, he spends most of his time working with the O, particularly the line.

That and when he doesn't have us scratching our heads trying to figure out what he really said.

I don't know why, but I thought OSU would have had more Bowl appearances than that.

For many, many years the exclusive tie-in with the Rose Bowl (and selection rules for the same) meant that only a clear, untied Ohio State champion of the Big Ten would go to Pasadena. Tied and went there more recently than the co-champion, tough luck, the other team goes. Not going to the Rose Bowl there was no fall back bowl to go into - It was the Rose Bowl or nothing.

The B10 had a lot of rules prohibiting Bowl play(no repeat to the Rose and no other Bowls but the Rose etc) for many years that cut down on it.

EDIT

Sandgk beat me to it.

well, keep in mind that until the mid 70's, it was rose bowl or bust

From the inside-back cover of the new book, "Then Tress Said to Troy...",: "includes an exclusive CD that contains rare audio play-by-play of the infamous November 24, 1973, game against Michigan. This is the greatest and most controversial Ohio State-Michigan game in their long and storied rivalry. Both teams came into the game undefeated, and the game ended in a 10-10 tie, but by a vote of the league coaches (the audio CD itself says Athletic Directors), Ohio State went to the Rose Bowl."

I don't think scUM has gotten over it since.
