The Alamo Bowl was on Dec 30th. My fuzzy memory tells me Slick Nick announced he was taking the Dolphins job on Christmas Day and I suspect Skip knew before then.

At the very least they were prepared for him to leave and moved pretty quickly to hire Les. They pretty much had it down to Les or Petrino within 72 hours of Nick announcing he was leaving.
