Game Thread BCS National Championship Game: tOSU 24, LSU 38 (final)

Reading some of the posts here give me the impression that some of you seem to have some kind of inferiority complex when it comes to the SEC. You seem to be overly concerned about what others say about speed, strength of schedule, etc. Do I think the SEC has more speed than any other conference, top to bottom, yes I do. But that does not mean that the top teams from other conferences are not comparable to the top SEC teams. You do not get to the top of any conference without having the speed, strength, etc. For instance, I feel the SEC is much faster and stronger than the Pac 10, but certainly that doesn't mean that USC does not match up with the best in the SEC. The same would apply to you and your conference. I also keep reading about "No one gives us a chance in this game". The only ones that I am hearing that from are the OSU fans, everyone else seems to be giving you more respect than you are giving yourselves. The betting line is only 5 1/2, when you subtract 2 or 3 points for it being played in the Superdome that means you are less than a field goal dog. That is pretty damn close for a team that "Nobody gives a chance" to win the game. I guess that it boils down to the fact that I have never liked the "Us versus the world" method of pumping up the team or fans, I would rather see a more positive approach. As to the Florida game last year, it's over, beating us this year will have no impact on that game, nor will losing. Put it behind you. This post is not meant to be citical, nor am I trying to start something, it is merely intended to give my impression of some of what I am reading here.

Well... one more person who isn't Fake Lou Holtz.

I guess I should have added all my lisps into the statements. You can expect Lou to give the stupid talk to LSU because that is the kiss of death.

Actually all I am saying is that every team uses different things to motivate them. I would say that being cinderella and the only 2 loss team in history to win will be huge motivation. I actually the motivation thing works the opposite. I think Georgia will not be winning the Sugar because they are "disappointed" with their bowl game.

Also, I can tell you this, every team that has played LSU this year with the execption of Miss St. gave us their best performance and played lights out. Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas and Auburn played WAY above their talent level. I do not expect Ohio State to be any different they will give us their absolute best shot and the Tigers need to be ready for that. I am confident that we are game tested and will not panic if strange things happend. this game will be decided by 1 touchdown or less.

2) Glen Dorsey may be 100% - While I think ESPN (along with many others) are constantly overrating Dorsey, he is a great weapon ? especially against our particular offense. Our O runs the power and base/iso approx 45%-50% on all our run plays. And guess who is right there! While Beanie can slip a few tackles, he will lose 90% of the time against Dorsey. Go with the sweeps/tosses Tres!

The play of Glen Dorsey will be interesting. This NC game will be his last college game right. He's already had injury problems this year. He's already had opponents take cheap shots at him. Yes, with the layoff, he may be able to regain full strength for play in this matchup. Good new for LSU....maybe.

A healthy Glen Dorsey is a hands down Top 3 NFL pick right. Maybe even #1 overall. An injured Glen Dorsey could fall significantly in the draft therefore losing a great deal of moola. With these risks, will Dorsey PLAY SAFE in the NC (to avoid further injury) or will he go ALL OUT? That is the million dollar question and the way Dorsey chooses to answer it could cost him MILLIONS!

Say what you want BUT I'm sure thoughts such as this DO and SHOULD come into the minds of players with this much to lose. Dorsey needs to think about Dorsey first.

This topic might be worth some discussion.

Go Buckeyes!!!!!!

LOL this sounds more like wishful thinking than a question. He would have been a top 3 pick last year. If he wanted millions he could have it last year and he has stated he wants a NC for LSU. This guy does not know how to dial it in, he will bring it all game long until his body can not take it. It is not in this guy's DNA to play half ass. This is the best stage for Dorsey to show his abilities to NFL. Before the Sugar bowl last year NO ONE was talking Russell as #1 draft pick.

Virginia Tech surely gave LSU their best performance, and almost stayed within 40. :wink2:

Miles to Team:

Team do you remember the feeling you have after the Kentucky and Arkansas game? Do we want to experience this same feeling on Jan 7th? The effort you have displayed over the season has been second to none, but have we executed as well as we could have? You are going up against the #1 team in the nation who is out to prove they can beat us. Even our brothers in the SEC think we are not the best team dispite our championship. Are you ready to go out and show the world who is the best?

You see all the chip-on-the-sholder is in the eye of the beholder and I can almost bet that Tiger Woods plays with a chip-on-his-sholder every time he goes to work.

When people come in with a chip on their shoulder it is almost always because of a percieved lack of respect. I don't see anybody disrespecting LSU. Yeah maybe you could look to other SEC teams who say they are not the best team in thier conference but I think they proved they are certainly worthy of the title.

If you want to use the losses as a motivator fine but who do you think has the better motivator in that case? LSU who lost to two teams they shouldn't have (1 at home) and still made it into the NCG or OSU who got embarrased in last years NCG?

LSU is coming in the favorite. Kind of hard to have a chip on your shoulder when you are expected to win.

Glenn Dorsey could have gone to the NFL last year (and he would've been a high 1st round choice). Playing in the BCS Championship Game, I don't believe he'll be concerned about his health at all. In my opinion, thinking that may be true is wishful thinking at best.

I wouldn't say nobody gives us a chance because some do but I have seen plenty of articles here posted saying OSU has no chance and does not even belong there.

How many articles about LSU have been written like that?

Notre Dame does tend to boost ones draft status

you lost me with this line. Why would you subtract 2 or 3 points from the spread for the game being in the superdome.

Yep... the general media sentiment is that LSU will win, if not win easily. Here's the thread for that discussion (link starts close to the beginning of December):

Because home field is alleged to be a 3 point advantage when making lines.

So he is saying that we would be a 2.5 point dog if the game wasn't in the superdome....

Last I checked the game is in the dome so I say we leave the 3 points on there:biggrin::biggrin:

I would say 3 points for a CFB team at home is a bit low. In CFB they should give at least 6 I think.
