It's written in to the BCS rules that Charlie Weis gets a two week coaching head start. I have no idea why they'd do it this year.

that's extra time he gets for his players for all the "community service" time they wind up having to do at the end of each season!

Why Ohio State Will win the National Title

Ohio State plays a damn good opponent in the LSU Tigers. This is the breakdown-

Coaching- I'd give to Ohio State- Tressel is THE BEST of today.

Mental Advantage- Easily Ohio State

Physical Advantage- Easily Ohio State

Schedule Advantage- With time to rest, it's not problem facing a big time opponent - LSU

"Speed" Advantage- LSU

Homefield- LSU because of location, I wouldn't doubt a showing of about 55% LSU 45% Ohio State. We traveled to Az, La won't be a problem.

Defensive Advantage- Well, our D is incredible, but Dorsey is going to be a major factor here. LSU

Offensive Advantage- Although the Tigers have 30 RBs, Beanie IMO, is still better

Special Teams- Ohio State, we have damn good kickers, and our return game is pretty decent.

X Factors-

Dorsey, Lauriniatis.
Mo Wells (backup to Beanie Wells), Hester

That's my breakdown.

Now, to the real reason we will take this one, as we should've the last.

The underdog has won the majority of the BCS.

Think about it... When you're the underdog, and get to hear how you don't belong on the same field as your opponent, and you hear it for 5-8 weeks, it sets in, we're tired of this.

It's what happened last year. It wasn't the speed of the SEC. The only place the SEC is faster in than the Big Ten is the LineBacker position, other than that, it's all the same.

It wasn't the speed though... The Buckeyes heard it'd be given to them, and it wasn't. It's what happened to Miami, and USC, and Texas. The list goes on. And it will stay this way.

Quite frankly, I'm good being the underdog, especially now.

NC Game Breakdown - my 2 cents

Thoughts of a buckeye fan! I am no Mark May (thank the Lord above), but I have had these things on my mind the last week.

The Bad news:
1) We are not battle-tested like LSU this year ? LSU played 7 teams ranked #17 or higher at the time. We didn?t play one! I know?LSU played 3 overrated teams (S Carolina, UK, Alabama). The other four were legit top 20 teams! If you don?t believe me, watch Florida OWN scUM on 1 Jan! (believe it or not?I am sick of scUM losing to teams that are not us?they make our victories over them a little less sweet?that?s a different story though).
2) Glen Dorsey may be 100% - While I think ESPN (along with many others) are constantly overrating Dorsey, he is a great weapon ? especially against our particular offense. Our O runs the power and base/iso approx 45%-50% on all our run plays. And guess who is right there! While Beanie can slip a few tackles, he will lose 90% of the time against Dorsey. Go with the sweeps/tosses Tres!
3) LSU has a lot of offensive weapons ? The Tiger offense is full of weapons. While many of them have been inconsistent (aka ? they drop every other pass thrown to them) this year, there is nothing like a few weeks of practice to put it all together. Ask Va Tech how LSU plays when they come out consistent!
4) Todd Boeckman (can he do it?) ? From the 2nd half of the Washington game to the 2nd drive of Wisconsin, he was a star (18TD / 6INT)! However, since that first Wisc drive he has played like a first-year QB (1TD / 4INT). While stats don?t say it all, I feel his game stats in the last three games describe his overall performance well. At least the ball wont be slippery in the superdome unless Dorsey snots on it! If we double team Dorsey, somebody will be in his face a lot in this game. Throwing in pressure hasn't been his forte lately. Let's go TB. Short slants and outs are a good thing!

The Good News:
1) No one gives the buckeyes a chance! ? Feeling of 2002 all over again?? I love it! Think about the game our Offense looked the best (PSU). The game everyone ensured us the offense would falter to the "might" of Dan Conner and the ?white-out? crowd! (TB threw 3 TDs and had a +70% completion rate). Think about the game our defense looked the best (MSU, Purdue). The games everyone ensured us our Defense would get torched by the pass or the run (The games our 1st string D gave up 3 points in 8 Qrts). As much as everyone is ensuring us we have no chance at all this game, we could beat the Patriots! Thanks Mark May ? I still want to kick you in the balls!
2) We are playing in enemy territory (kinda) ? I know?we will have probably 40% buckeye fans at the game, but it will still have the feel of an away game (LSU fans are LOUD). And that?s a good thing. Tressel?s ?road warrior? speeches have really paid off this year. (Ask Washington, Purdue, Penn Suck, and scUM). I personally feel those were the best four games we played (okay?Northwestern was fun to watch). Also, when Hartline pumps up the opposing crowd to get louder, that gives me the chills!
3) We have better coaching ? I don?t even need to expound on this ? but I will. Tressel will have his team more prepared then Les. Tressel is better in the close games ? by far! I would say the big game, but we have one loss that haunts all of us?next point.
4) 41-14 ? That loss could motivate a mummy! I was so motivated, I drove through Florida just to piss on the ?Welcome the the Sunshine State? sign. Sorry Miami fans, but you probably pissed on a Buckeye tree after 2002 - friggin' jerks! While this motivation will not make a big difference in the actual game, it will make a huge difference in the preparation for the game (lifting/scrimmage/mindset/ect).

Prediction
If the Bucks O-line/QB play like they can: 24-14 tOSU
If the Bucks O-line/QB play like they have a couple times: 30-3 LSU

Underdog tag might be a super boost to Ohio State Buckeyes in BCS championship

Friday, December 07, 2007Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus -- These words should sound like poetry to Ohio State fans:
"We know that pretty much everyone on earth hates us, so I mean, that's cool. We're going to be playing in Louisiana against LSU and SEC nation, so we'll end up being the underdog. That's fine with us."
From the mouth of Ohio State captain and senior right tackle Kirk Barton comes the ingredients needed for BCS victory -- the feelings of doubt and disrespect that have been a winning recipe for too many national championship teams.

Buckeyes faced with another long layoff
JASON LLOYD, Morning Journal Writer
12/07/2007

COLUMBUS -- Hopefully the turkey and stuffing were worth it, because thanks to the Big Ten's quirky setup, Ohio State is facing the same predicament it did last year.

And everyone remembers how that turned out.

By the time they tee it up in New Orleans on Jan. 7, the Buckeyes will have completed a 50-day layoff since their regular season finale against Michigan. LSU will have 36 days off.

With the Big Ten season ending before Thanksgiving last year, the Buckeyes endured a 51-day layoff before the national championship game, which they lost to Florida, 41-14.

Coaches polled the players following last year's debacle to ask what they think should be done differently. One of the overwhelming responses was to not be at the bowl site as long. As a result, the team won't report to New Orleans this year until required to do so.

Has anyone ever considered that the LSU team will be coming into the game with a chip on their shoulder?

sure they might but I am not sure what they have a chip on their shoulder about. they jumped from 7th to 2nd to get in. Most are saying they are going to win and win easily.

Now consider the chip the Bucks will be coming in with. Most outside of Ohio don't think they can win. All they hear about is LSU (SEC) great speed. All they hear is how this will be a repeat of last years beating. All they hear is how they don't belong there in the first place because of the weak schedule they played.

seriously why would LSU have a chip on their shoulder compared to OSU? It seems pretty clear the media loves you guys and thinks we are a high school team.

Miles to Team:

Team do you remember the feeling you have after the Kentucky and Arkansas game? Do we want to experience this same feeling on Jan 7th? The effort you have displayed over the season has been second to none, but have we executed as well as we could have? You are going up against the #1 team in the nation who is out to prove they can beat us. Even our brothers in the SEC think we are not the best team dispite our championship. Are you ready to go out and show the world who is the best?

You see all the chip-on-the-sholder is in the eye of the beholder and I can almost bet that Tiger Woods plays with a chip-on-his-sholder every time he goes to work.

To be fair he would have had the exact same message to them before the Arkansas game.

"Remember that feeling you had when you thought you had blown it(UK)? Do you want to have it again on SR day, playing in front of the home crowd for the last time? SEC CG and NC birth on the line....etc etc."
