fuck the sec.

No, I think LSU fucked us. We have to sit and take it. The SEC fans will be howling. But I'm not listening to any shit from fans other than LSU and Florida.

As our future schedule shows, we'll take on anyone... anytime... anywhere. If one of those other SEC fans that haven't won a BCS title (cough cough, Georgia) want to talk shit, tell them to come to Columbus.

Well here goes my first post. This Buckeye team did far better than what I dreamed of for this year. We all knew Beanie and the D were going to be terrific. The way the WR's and Boeckman stepped up early on, was a huge surprise to me. Now it's not completely over for the Bucks. We all need to remember that this is our team, and it doesn't matter what the people outside of this great University and it's fans say. They are still the best DAMN team in the land, but just not on this night.

I would like for all Buckeye fans to go out there tomorrow and not complain about the refs or whatever else untrue reason for why we lost. Just give congrats to the team that was better tonight. I know one thing. I also agree with having an open competition for QB. I'd also love to see the defensive and offensive playcalling get some looking into. When you play any team that has speed and runs a bit of the spread, covering WR's with LBs isn't good for anyone. Next year is going to be just as exciting as ever. Maybe we can knock of the mighty Trojans and shut up a ton of the naysayers.

GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see that TD to close things out. With that, we have outgained LSU for the game. Not that it really means anything, but it feels a lot better than last year when we only had 83 yards of offense. This year we at least showed up for the game. We had some guys who seemed to be a little out of it in the first half (Robo, Hartline, Small) and a first-year starter at QB who stood admirably in the face of great pressure for most of the game but couldn't maintain it at the end. The box score will show that we helped LSU with 4 15-yard penalties, but two of them seemed a little touchy (DWash hit O.O.B., Heyward head-butt), another was bizarre (how could Spitler have missed the ball?), and the other was just an unfortunate grab of the facemask by JL, who was certainly not trying to rough anyone up. Our defense had to deal with an OC who was throwing everything plus the kitchen sink at us, and executing 95% of it perfectly. Rather Boise State like, I thought. I thought they handled it a lot better in the second half, but it wasn't enough. Our offense was facing a battle-hardened, senior-led defense that was determined to send their DC out to Nebraska with a win. Not too much to be ashamed of tonight. We gave it our best, but in the end our inexperience at key positions showed. Congratulations to LSU for a great season and a National Championship. No one else has a better claim on it.

We didn't lose because of speed, we lost because of LSU's strength/push and discipline (our lack thereof). I'd say this could be weakly scraped as a silver lining, but we all know that the media (and many SEC fans, although this is not meant towards the bulk of the LSU fans we've enjoyed here the last month or so) will ignore that fact.

As others have said, a huge congrats to LSU. A convincing enough win, that there is no way they should have the media diluting their win by trying to annoint USC in parallel. The Tigers ARE the 2008 National Champions, and in a season as crazy as any of us have ever seen, they are absolutely unquestionabily deserving.

Before anyone here says something ridiculous like "JT is losing his lustre" they really need to consider what it takes to go to 2 national title games back to back. Three in six years. He's losing his sheen? You've lost your mind. This team was picked by most to be third in the Big Ten. Very few of us even here on this site picked this team to go 1 loss and play for the title. The team OVER achieved, they didn't under achieve. I'm not trying to be Pollyannish, I'm not trying to blow sunshine up your collective ass -- all I'm saying is that we have nothing to be ashamed of.

We were embarrassed by Florida. We were NOT embarrassed tonight. No "coulda shoulda woulda's" here. LSU flat won. Their defensive line is everything it's made out to be and more. No question. However, this was a much more hard fought game than last year's was. That shows in the stats. That shows in the effort on the field. The only place it doesn't show is in the score. The score, of course, is what it's all about. Don't mistake my point for some weak attempt to say "BUT look, we did better here and there!" That's not it at all. LSU won, but they won a much harder fought game than the score will suggest to those that didn't watch.

We are a very young team, and the future looks as bright as the recent past has. Don't for a second reduce what our team accomplished this year by remaining petulant about this loss for too long. We will be top 5 coming into next season. We will enter with a veteran team, and an enormously talented incoming class of recruits. This year was an extraordinary success based on general expectations, and we have no reason to expect anything less next year.

Two national championship losses in a row. 0-9 against the SEC. We're going to be roundly abused by opposing fans and the media for another year. You know what? GOOD. It was hunger that made us over achieve all this year. It will be hunger that drives us next year.

And hey, at least we're not the Buffalo Bills (yet).

I felt sick after last year's loss. Literally ill. My stomach and mind are still as I sit here typing this. I hate that we lost. But we lost a good game to a great team. In the process, we (as a site) evidenced again what makes us a different community than so many others. For the most part, we kept our cool, we're gracious in defeat, and we've made some new (and hopefully lasting) friends in the Tiger nation.

We have all the time in the world to break down this game and talk about what went wrong, and what went right. Don't worry about blame tonight. Don't try and roast Spitler, the O-line, Boeckman, or anyone else. These are all surface level considerations, and don't give proper time or credit to the whole of the game. I'm actually really looking forward to the community-level analysis that always comes after a loss around here, and it generally takes a few days for minds to clear enough for that to start to come together properly. It NEVER starts with "dump Boeckman" or "X, Y, and/or Z suck."

We played for the National Championship again. We lost. The latter hurts badly. The former is an undeniable source of pride, and an inarguable defense against those who would try and kick us while we're down.

THANK YOU, I say blindly and indirectly to our team and coaches, our seniors and any departing juniors in particular. Thanks to this community for ADDING to the joy of Buckeye football, at least for me, rather than detracting from it as I found so often elsewhere.

Congrats again to the National Champion LSU Tigers and all fans thereof. Enjoy this moment, I still remember what it was like as if it were yesterday, and I have the utmost confidence that I will experience it again in the near future.

LSU, USC, Ohio State -- these three programs aren't going anywhere. Maybe include Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida as well; the point was simply that next year starts this all anew, and those first three teams will be right back in the mix again.

Keep your heads up.
Damned shame you can't give one beautiful post multiple reps.

That definitely deserves multiple hits - a paean to a wonderful, and unexpected, season and a great team

Awesome response to a rough night. definitely repping that post.
As a student at OSU, I agree as well, it was a great season. Despite the loss, I feel our players played hard, you can tell they really wanted it and nothing but respect goes out to them. The play calling on the other hand, awful, again, im lost as to wth the deal is. Also, maybe its just bc im new to the board, but are we not allowed to critique play calling and coaches here? I actually go to the school, i bleed S&G, am I not allowed to state what im feeling to my fellow bucks? Anyways, I don't feel any of our juniors should go to the draft, bc they aren't ready, except maybe gholston, hes a beast. Even 33 isnt quite ready for the NFL yet, hopefully Hawk explains that too him. Physically, yes, mentally however, no. I also think that if our guys do return, we will certainly be back next year. Also, and this is just my opinion and nothing more, if we do get TP, Tressel should offer him a shot to play right away, i like boeckman, but he just makes way too many crucial mistakes, which is the only thing you can't do as a osu QB. Great season Bucks! :osu:

The roughing the punter was just a poor angle on the ball.

Another crushing blow to our Buckeyes. I was looking for the ball by the goaline and was actually shocked to see it get through.

The guy actually made a great play. He just didn't try to block where the ball will be (off the foot)......
If he was leap was inside another foot we would be talking about what a great play it was and possibly the result of the game would be different. Can't knock the kid for a physical mistake, it was the mental ones that killed us....
