BCS Chances (El Gigante Merge)

That's not all Oregon has done. They sent their A.D. and coach (I think it was those two) to Tempe the week after we beat scUM to grovel, beg, whatever you want to call it. Not to mention the 1/2 page ads they took out in USA Today advertising the team's players.

I said it last year, and I'll say it again--I don't like coaches taking such actions. BCS spots should be rewarded by on-field merit, not by which school has the best lobbyists. I'm proud of JT for not doing such things, but rather letting our actions on the field speak for themselves.

I kind of agree. Oregon might be hurting themselves by basically begging and whining that a Pac-10 team got left out last year but they kind of have to because they're from the Northwest where no one gets any respect when they deserve it and they've been under the radar the entire year. Oregon doesn't have the luxury of being as popular as Ohio State or Notre Dame so they have to plead their case where as the Fiesta Bowl comittee has already seen and heard plenty of OSU and ND.

I've seen multiple sources (including NevadaBucks free column on BN) that have said their ABC connections say we are virtually a lock for Fiesta (if Texas and USC both win).

In 4Q of Texas game, ABC put up their bowl projections which showed ND vs. Oregon in Fiesta. WTF My head is spinning with these daily change of directions.

I would think brian griese would be a fairly memorable son :tongue2:

on a sidenote, Bob Griese was talking about PSU as one of his three wild-cards... so I'm not putting much stock in his picks.

Has anyone seen any hypothetical betting lines? I would think tOSU will be favored against ND.
We are favored against everyone but SC according to nevada. I think its 4 vs ND, IIRC.

Bob was pretty weak today, but I don't think he was equating the term 'wild card' with 'at-large bid'. I think he just meant teams that could be selected by various bowls. Texas, USC, the SEC champ, the ACC champ, and the Big East champ are pretty set where they're going. Since Penn St. is no longer tied to a certain bowl, he included them with potential at-large teams.

Now saying that his son played a 'number 2 or number 3 Washington State' team in the 1998 Rose Bowl - that was a sad statement. Washington State was #8 in the AP before that game.
