BCS Chances (El Gigante Merge)

CFN is showing that wisconsin has accepted the Capitol One bowl bid. Congrats to wiscy and BA on an excellent final season and a Jan bowl game.

What would happen if by some chance we weren't invited to a BCS bowl? Where would the buckeyes end up going?

Would seem to have some bearing on this discussion, eh?

Here's my pokers player look at what could help us. What needs to happen and what games are left.

LSU loss
vs Arkansas (fuck!!)
vs UGA

VT loss
vs UNC
vs FSU

ND loss
vs Stanford

5 total chances to start with, now down to 4. I wouldn't shove a ton of money in with those odds but the games are going to be evenly matched enough I'm pretty sure we'll get at least 1 to go our way.

all at game day and mark may were saying ND/OHIOSTATE at the fiesta bowl was going to be picked and by bcs rankings and in there order of who should be playing the buckeyes since they have the best rankings out of the 4 but, corso kept saying its all business first so nd and ohi state will be the pick eventhough, they dont deserve it

1)ohiostate
2)oregon
3) auburn
4)notre dame

I really dont want thr buckeyes to play against QUINN , a dublin boy that was ohiostates 3rd pick behind smith/zwick

Ohio state is a better team but, I hate playing against home town stars , the buckeyes will defintely see his best.

I don't care if Notre Dame is the toughest team out there...I want to play them. I'd rather play Notre Dame than beat up on Virgina Tech. Ohio State vs. Notre Dame would just be exciting. It would be one of the most exciting bowl games in Ohio State history. Win or lose, it would be a great time. It would be great for both schools...it would help both schools recruiting wise. Plus...maybe it would spark ND and Charlie Weis' interest in playing Ohio State in the future.

A ND vs Ohio State matchup would probably be the most watched non-NC bowl game ever. I'd rather beat Notre Dame than have gone to the Rose Bowl and lose to USC. A game vs. Notre Dame gives us the chance to have this be a VERY MEMORABLE season.

I think ND is the most overrated of all the schools being considered. They only good team they played against, they lost. If they were in the Big 10 they would have 3-4 losses easy.

Bring on Quinn. I want him to see why he was our #3 guy...

A victory over ND cements our status as the best of the midwest teams and gives us untold bragging rights. I don't mind the Domers getting back to respectability as long as we have the official "shut the fuck up' card that would come with another head to head win.

I really wanted Miami in the Orange for 2003 as well but we got screwed out of that one so more than likely we'll be playing VT in the OB, which is fine. I live amongst ACC pukes so bitch slapping their champ would be fun indeed.

</td></tr></tbody> </table> With Alabama out of contention and Virginia Tech back in the driver's seat for the ACC's automatic berth, there were really only three realistic choices -- Oregon (10-1), Notre Dame (8-2) and Ohio State (9-2) -- to consider for the two BCS at-large berths. And since the Irish are a mortal lock for one of them if they beat Stanford on Saturday, the question really is, Ducks or Buckeyes? I don't know the answer -- and I don't think Fiesta Bowl officials do yet, either.
Much will depend on what the Fiesta does with its first pick (this is under the assumption Texas reaches the Rose Bowl). If it takes Penn State (10-1), obviously Big Ten rival Ohio State is out of the question. If, however, the Fiesta takes the Irish, they'll face a tough decision for Notre Dame's opponent. My guess, as of this week, is they'll go with the Ducks, because they have a better record, and because the Buckeyes would be playing in Tempe for the third time in four years.
Meanwhile, Auburn's win over Alabama had a ripple effect on the SEC projections. The Tigers (9-2) likely locked up a berth to the Capital One Bowl and sent the Tide (9-2) to the Cotton, which creates a domino effect that sends Florida tumbling all the way to Shreveport. That could change, however, if the Gators beat Florida State on Saturday.
One other intriguing bowl storyline involves Fresno State (8-2), which, following its near-upset of USC, will be very attractive to the Liberty Bowl for its at-large opening. The WAC would gladly free up the Bulldogs to go to the higher-paying game since it already has three other eligible teams from which to fill the league's two spots in the MPC Computers and Hawaii bowls.

If Virginia can step it up in the second half and somehow beat Miami, Va Tech may just be out of the mix for one of the at-large bids. It's only 15-10 now.
VaTech is already out for an atlarge bid, if they win their conference championship game they are in, if they lose they dont have a chance.

oh, and mandel is retarded, the ducks arent going.
