OK. BUT when the game was on the line following an uncharacteristic bad snap from center giving the weasels the ball near the 50 and a chance to go ahead it was three and out. The next series was played in a let-nothing-get-get-behind-you mode that allowed Michigan to score, but not before taking most of the time off the clock. look at their play in the second and fourth quarters and you get a much different impression.

Cavalcade of Whimsy - Why OSU Will Win

Ten reasons why Troy Smith and Ohio State will beat Florida and win the national title, the yearly holiday wish list for all 119 teams, the one thing most fans don't understand, and more in the latest Cavalcade of Whimsy.

I was with this guy all the way till he stated that this team is not Texas 05 or USC 04. That, my friends is pure bull shit! This team more than hangs with both those outfits. The question should be could 05 Texas or 04 USC comnpare to 06 OSU?

It was written by Pete Fiutak. That guy loves to stir the pot.

I have to disagree with Fiutak on the 04 USC and 05 Texas comparisons because there are parallels to how these teams were built in contrast with the bucks this year. Texas had an athletic QB with a penchant for big plays in big games. Sound familiar? USC had two heisman trophy candidates, a qb and an all-around threat. Sound familiar? Stirring up the pot is fine, but the offensive comparisons alone don't give too much credence to seperating them to different plateaus of number one. The bucks are just as strong and deserving as both the 04 condoms and the 05 donghorns.
I swear people still forget how tight the game was between Texas and us last season, when we didn't even have a full-time qb!!!

i have to agree that Ohio State '06 isn't exactly the '04 or '05 USC teams or the '05 Texas team. we've broken the 50 point barrier once this season. those teams AVERAGED 50 points per game. of course the argument could be made that this team is better on the defensive side of the ball...

I don't really agree with that kind of style-point comparison. I think we could have easily scored 50+ on a number of teams. But we not only called the dogs off but went into 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust mode.
Unlike Texas - CU for the B12 championship game, we didn't feel the need to absolutely embarass other teams on national tv. How many games did Troy throw for under 200 yards? (6) Yet he threw all day long against Texas and Michigan.
After putting 42 points up on what is arguably the best defense in the country, is there any doubt that we COULD put up 50-70 on everyone except Michigan and Texas?

While this is true, that is why we are not "2004/5 USC or 2005 Texas" in media's eyes.
