Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

If Florida fans actually think that the Gators have that big of a mismatch with speed they will be sorely disappointed on January 8th. Let them continue to think that they'll run us out of the building.......we've heard this trite argument before. I think we all know how that one turned out. :wink2:

They're grasping at straws right now. They know they're in for an ass-kicking.

I wouldn't even say that were going to beat their ass, I'm not sure that is an accurate boast. Do I think that the Buckeyes will encounter problems from time to time? Sure, because I think that Meyer is going to blitz the hell out of them.....and teams that have successfully blitzed against the Buckeyes this year have slowed down the offense. The real disadvantage that Florida has is with their offense. They have a shoddy stable of tailbacks. This will allow the Bucks to play loose from a linebacker standpoint, and take away all the short routes. Florida will then have to rely on the deep pass, which hopefully will be taken away by one of our safeties. Based off of what I hear, the OSU coaching staff is really riding Jamario O'Neal right now in practice....obviously they are also anticipating the need for him to play center field. I think that we can hold the Gators to under 13 points for the game, I have my doubts that they can return the favor.

This game will never meet nailbiter criteria, but it will also never be a blowout. Tressel wants to win..........regardless of style points.

BCS Determines No Team Worthy Of Facing Ohio State In Championship Game

COLUMBUS, OH?In what many BCS officials are citing as "proof that their flawless system indeed works," no Division 1-A college football team was found to possess the sheer excellence required to face Ohio State, the No. 1 ranked team since the season began, in this year's BCS Championship game. Do you think Florida's D is better than scUM's? Obviously they're 2 differents styles of defense but c'mon, if scUM's heralded front 7 couldn't get much pressure on us then Florida's won't. If UF blitzes, we dink and dunk with the passing game. If they stay back, we pound it down their throats with a healthy dosage of Pittman and Wells.

No way UF holds us under 30(barring a serious amount of TO's) and no way they score more than 17 on us.

I would probably lean to the thought that Fla.'s D is just as good as tsun. Only different. They try to balance out weight with speed. They "fly to the ball.
They also got a good receiver back for the game. I don't think we are going to 'run all over them".
We have the best Offense in the nation. Without that we would have lost a game(s)

We are going to win though. We have the best team in collegiate football.

OHIO STATE NOTEBOOK

Buckeyes have yet to get acquainted with Gators

Saturday, December 16, 2006

Columbus- Playing Michigan would have meant seven weeks of adjusting and readjusting. Since Ohio State's opponent in the national title game is Florida, a team Ohio State has never played, the Buckeyes still are working to familiarize themselves with a foreign foe.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jim Tressel's news conference Friday to preview the BCS title game began with a question about Urban Meyer.

Moments later, there was a second question about Meyer. That was followed by another. And another.

Lowly Illini have goods on No. 1 Buckeyes

By John Henderson

Article Last Updated:12/15/2006 01:31:56 AM MST

Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong planned to call a key source in about how to beat Ohio State, so I thought I'd beat him to it.

I found Ron Zook on the recruiting trail Wednesday and asked him the same general questions Strong will, minus a few dozen X's and O's: How in the world did you come within seven points of the Buckeyes? How did you hold them to only 17 points?

That article is typical UF mentality. Living in Florida, these fans here think that their team is destined to win the game purely because they are in the SEC. I have yet to hear anyone say that they actually watched any of the OSU games. They are all basing their opinions on the 3pt win over Michigan, and none of them realize that OSU had a sloppy second half to let the score get close. I honestly think there may be masses suicides here if UF loses this game. :bonk:
