Buckeyes fumbled shot at greatness

By Kyle Nagel

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

GLENDALE, Ariz. ? Most of the Ohio State football players took off running from the field with 19 seconds left, after Florida quarterback Chris Leak kneeled down on fourth-and-3. Because the clock begins ticking on a change of possession, the Buckeyes didn't have to run another play.

Teachable moment: OSU loss not end of the world

By Laura Dempsey
Staff Writer

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Once in a while, the universe conspires to teach a select few one of life's harder lessons.
Tuesday was such a day for many in the Miami Valley who'd hitched their wagons to Ohio State's star, only to see it become a black, humiliating hole as the Buckeyes were eaten alive by the University of Florida Gators in Monday night's BCS Championship game.

By Marla Ridenour

GLENDALE, ARIZ. - The search for positives nearly came up empty after the worst loss in coach Jim Tressel's six seasons and the third-worst bowl defeat in Ohio State history.
No. 2 Florida's 41-14 rout of the previously unbeaten Buckeyes in the BCS National Championship Game Monday night could not have been more stunning.

Can't wait to get home. The last day in Paradise Valley (that's where the media hotel is) was 77 degrees and sunny. Ohio State fans invaded the souvenir shops around town. All the Buckeye merchandise was 50 percent off. All the Florida gear was jacked up. I didn't get souvenirs for everybody, but the chocolate fairy visited every night. Some of you will be getting tasty Camelback Inn chocolates. They weren't half-price. They were free. It's the thought that counts.
