I feel sorry for the people who are purchasing a digital copy of the game.

Depends on your ISP connection. Now days, with digital downloads becoming more and more mainstream it's a lot easier. I was able to download SW:TOR's beta of 20GB in just a few hours.

pre load. It will be fully downloaded and ready to go as soon as they launch the game. Plus it will be compressed, so the actual download won't be 20GB (probably in the neighborhood of 13), but the game will take up over 20GB of space on the hard drive.

I played for a while. First of all, I suck. Second, it's really buggy. Plus I am having hard time getting good ping. I think that is one of my main issues.

So far it's fairly fun, but that map is a camp fest. Way too many choke points and way too many spots to hide in a corner. In even the open part there the bushes are still a major issue. It's a game of "who can crawl through the bushes better." The game is fun, but I really don't like the map.

I am not sure why those chose that one, especially since the beta will be a demo for a ton of people.

Goodbye purchase.

I would reserve judgement. There is only one map and everyone has a different perspective.

I've watched a fair amount of streams on Twitch.tv and it looks like a lot of fun, and it's definitely something to look forward to. I'm looking forward to playing it when I get back home from Columbus.

It is fun, but it feels like COD Modern Warfare. No vehicles, lots of camping, etc. I am sure once I get used to the camp points I will get better, but vehicles are a huge part of Battlefield. Why on Earth they have a map that doesn't have a single vehicle is beyond me.

Well, I just had my first good round. Upgrading the engineer kit really helped. 29-12 k/d and a ton of points. Sadly my team stunk and we were steamrolled otherwise I would have done better.

With the new kits and learning all the good spots I am becoming competent. I still have trouble at time seeing the enemy. That subway is a pain in the ass. I don't know how many times I yelled "I don't even see him! I am dead, I know where the bullet came from, and I still don't see him!"

Plus, I really have to get out of BFBC2 mode. I was able to run around alot there. Partly because I knew the maps so well, but there were definitely less hiding places. With all the hiding places, you really have to check all your corners before advancing.

This game is all about slowly flanking. That is the best way I could put it. I have seen some guys who are really good and could speed flank. Yet you really have to watch yourself.

Still buggy as hell. I have lost a ton of points when a server drops out. Plus without vehicles it just sucks. That is such a huge part of Battlefield. It just doesn't fell right. They really screwed the pooch in choosing this map for the beta.

Oh, one more thing. I have textures and a couple more details on ultra, the rest on high, no HBAO, no AA, 16x anisotropic filtering, 1080p resolution, and I was getting averages over 70fps, and hit over 100fps often. It did not dip below 60 (I saw a few in the 60's). I am sure I could go all ultra and/or turn on some AA.

I have a 2600K @ 4.8 GHz, 560Ti (overclocked to 1GHz core...performs very similar to a 570), and 8Gb of DDR3 RAM timed at 2133.

In other words I am very close to maxed out on 1080p. So it certainly does not take a GTX580 to max the game like some reports said, and clearly I am GPU limited so those numbers are pretty much based on my 560Ti. There was also a guy on Justintv that had it all maxed with a GTX570.

So I am willing to bet a 460 will be able to play well with all high settings (no AA) in 1080p (a 560 a little better). 550Ti would be around medium, and go from there. Plus that is DX11. I am not sure how DX10 cards will run. Could be better, could be worse. All depends on the code.

For ATI/AMD people, a 560 is about a 6870, a 560TI is about a 6950, and so forth (the ATI cards are actually a little better, but I believe this game is optimized for NVidia, we shall see).

Wait a minute, one more thing...after some initial sniping, that is close to gone. Recon is close to irrelevant. That scope glint gives them away (which is huge in a game with so many hiding spots). It's mostly assault and engineers. Support is weak and needs some help. I see some people playing it and they do ok, but this game and map really requires precision yet often during mid to close range. That is all engineers and assault. Plus the engineers can spam RPG's, which are actually pretty useful.

Maybe if I played support more it would seem better. Yet right now assault and engineers rule the day.

Oh I'll definitely get it one way or the other, it just feels more like a long term rental (probably a purchase from amazon w/ $20 off that gets traded in for $25 early next year).

I love Battlefield's vehicles, I just despise prone.
