Just played a the beta for about 10 minutes on Xbox and so far it's good. If anyone wants to play later this afternoon pm, I should be on after class. I've created a platoon on battlelog for the buckeyplanet as well. If only their emblem editor would let me upload images.

I hope you guys on console get to play Caspian Border at some point. It's a whole different experience, and what BF3 is all about.

Jets are pretty much useless at this point. Rockets are an unlock, so it's only guns (I don't have the patience or desire to fight for jets in order to get enough kills to unlock them). Plus on PC there is no controller or flightstick support yet.

The only thing jets are good for it getting shot down by stinger missles or AA guns, or maybe Kamikazi attacking. Choppers are very similar to BFBC2. Tanks are somewhat similar. I hate the alt fire though. Instead of right mouse being machine gun (it's an unlock too), you actually have to switch like you switch guns. The jeep and dune buggy are alright. The dune buggy is really fast. One bug is as soon as you hit water you are ejected from the vehicle, which kind of sucks. Other than that, the feel is very similar to light vehicles in BFBC2. In other words, no where near a driving sim but gets you from A to B. I do have a few road kills already. The AA gun is actually pretty cool. It is accurate from long range, even against ground troops. It is lightly armored, so it's a lot of sitting back and hiding. Yet it can be a powerful tool if you used right. Sadly, too many people sit at the very back of the map with them and try to shoot down jets all game.

The easiest way for me to add people into the BP platoon for Xbox would be for everyone to click the become a fan button.

I Have a Q6600 OC'd, GTX 260, and 8gb of ddr2 800. From what I'm hearing I may need to upgrade my entire system. I'll find out on Monday, but I've been needing to do this for quite some time, although I was hoping to wait till November and grab some deals.

What I want to build is:
Corsair 600T Case (Pretty case w/ lots of airflow)
Asus p8p67 Pro
2600k, might go for 2500k (depends if I want the hyperthreading)
Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler for OC.
GTX 570 (maybe x2 if I can afford it). May go for 2 560's. I dunno.
16gb DDR3 1600 XMS3 Corsair
64GB SSD HD for some games and my OS.
1.5TB Seagate barracude 7200rpm Sata 6gb for everything else.

And I have a buddy who can get me Windows Ultimate for free.

Fairly close to my build. I have a NZXT Phantom. It's a great case, but I hear good things about that Corsair too.

The Pro is a good motherboard, I have the Deluxe. A few more features, but probably not worth it (it was sort of an impulse buy).

The Noctua is a great cooler, but make sure you have low profile RAM. That RAM you listed is fine. About as tall as you can go is the Ripjaws (that is what I have).

If you plan to use the SSD for games, I would recommend more than 64Gb. The OS and ransom other things take up about 40Gb on my system. A game like BF3 takes up 20Gb. The plus for BF3 players with SSD's is they can spawn on jets first when the map starts, you know, if you really want to try out the jets and not hang around the airstrip.

GPU is up to you. I have a 560Ti. It plays almost everything on 1080p maxed out. It's overclocked to where it performs very similar to a 570. Your 260 is still a very capable card. As Buckeneye mentioned, the next gen is due out fairly soon. My best guess is first quarter next year. Up to you.

As for hyperthreading, I have a 2600k. I do folding@home and video encoding. Hyperthreading really helps there. Again, depends on what you do. For gaming it's not much help.

I am willing to bet you can wait. BF3 is not as bad as some people state. I am able to have it close to maxed out with my 560Ti, and most thought that would take a 580. Of course resolution matters too. If you are using 1080p (or 1920x1200), I am willing to bet you will be able to play just fine with a mix of low and medium settings, with the majority being medium. Yet like you said, you will find out soon enough.

16GB? Good lord why?

Anyway. Hold off on buying SLI -- and save your money. Southern Islands and Keplar are right around the corner.

Why not? lol

Keplar's aren't coming out till March/April 2012. Southern Islands are expected at the end of the year, but I won't hold my breath. Also, do you know if these are going to be PCI E 3.0 Cards only? If so I have to rethink my Mobo. I was thinking about just going with the GTX 570 for now.

Grrrr. I keep getting the "The connection with EA online was lost" error on 360!!!!! I'm starting to get frustrated!

Servers are down on the 360.

I'm stuck now. My pc can run the game on the lowest settings across the board. To me it looks just as good as it does on the xbox. I'd much prefer to play the game on the pc as well.

Played a few games, its fun and Im definitely going to buy. Though there are several issues with some glitches; seen several players float, I've fallen through rocks, or laid down and then could only see white.

There was a guy that was already ranked a 19. That's ridiculous.

I went to arm an MComm and suddenly I fell through the ground. I was stuck in some strange abyss and I couldn't get out. The funny thing was my squad mates all spawned on me and were stuck too. One kept on falling down the strange abyss. I laughed my ass off as he started falling out of view. Horrible bug, but it was pretty damn funny.
