Bands You've Seen In Concert

Saw Bob Dylan at the Northern Kentucky University basketball arena tonight. Definitely worth the 50 or so bones. Bob played some guitar for a few songs, but mostly played organ or harmonica. His voice is pretty shot (even by his standard), but there were only a few songs where it was a distraction. He still puts on a great show. The band was excellent, a great set list, and the stage production was subtle and effective. If anyone's on the fence about going to see him at the Schott tomorrow, I'd say go for it.

Saw Dylan in college in 2000 or 2001... it was a very cool show, really happy I got to see him...

On an unrelated note, saw Tom Petty a couple months ago in OC... great, great show

Saw Linkin Park this past Monday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. Thought they played a great show and would recommend them anyone.

24+ years overseas didn't give much opportunity for concerts, and Hawaii unfortunately doesn't get a lot of big names often, so I don't have a bunch of concerts under my belt:

ZZ Top (1974?)
Aerosmith (1974?)
Judas Priest (1986?)
David Sanborn (1987?)
Rolling Stones (1998)
Chicago (2004)
America (2004)
The Who (2004)
The Eagles (2005)
The Police (2008)
Aerosmith (2010)
Peter Frampton (2010)

Updated with The Police, Aerosmith, and Frampton concerts. The Doobie Brothers and War are having a concert together next month...still up in the air as to whether I'll go to it.

It isn't technically a "concert" in the normal sense of the word, especially since I saw the show at two of the permanent locations, but Blue Man Group is an absolutely amazing show!

When I took my girlfriend to the one at Universal Orlando just shy of a month ago I got picked to be in the show finale. It was completely random, about 20 minutes before the show started, one of the BMG staff comes up, sits on the armrest of the seat in front of us, just starts chatting and asks if I want to participate in the show. He takes me backstage, explains what is gonna happen, has me put on a different set of shoes, and then returns me to my seat and places a piece of tape next to my seat (we had aisle seats, so definitely a bit of luck with those). Towards the end of the show when the Blue Men are roaming around the audience, one of them grabs me, leads me onto the stage, and then I get led backstage by the staff. There's a video going on that "shows what is happening to me" backstage (it really isn't, kinda freaked my gf out though  ), and after a quick change they stuff me into a crate and I stick my head up through a hole into a jello mold, wheel me back out onstage, reveal the jello mold and then have me get out of the cube. It was a really cool experience that took an already amazing show to a whole new level for me.

If you haven't seen them, you really should try to. I want to get around to seeing one of their live tours as well.

Got to see Willie Nelson in January. Willie is 77 and the women in attendance were screaming like he was freakin' Elvis! :shake:
Willie is an extremely good guitar player but in concert he doesn't sing a lot. Perhaps just as well. Willie plays an amplified Martin N-20 Classical guitar, very interesting. Put on a good show but doesn't interact with the audience.

“One of the secrets to my sound is almost beyond explanation. My battered old Martin guitar, Trigger, has the greatest tone I’ve ever heard from a guitar — and I’ve played a lot of guitars, including a lot of other Martins that were the exact same model as Trigger.
A lot of the guys in the band have been with me for decades, but Trigger has outlated every musician I’ve played with, and after all these years, I have come to believe we were fated for each other.
Saw Arlo Guthrie, Thursday and Arlo never disappoints! He is an American icon. Go see him! He's currently touring with the Burns Sisters. The Journey On Tour.

Saw Sugarland (along with Little Big Town) on Sunday (present for the GF)....despite not liking a lot of country music, I thought they put on a hell of a show. If you're thinking about seeing them, I highly recommend them.

Saw Halestorm & Bullet For My Valentine tonight....another great show by Bullet. Halestorm put on a good show too, but I didn't know any of their music before tonight lol.

My Morning Jacket at The LC

Maybe the best show I've ever seen. It was that good. Two hours of face-melting rock. My neck is sore this morning. If you haven't seen them live, do yourself a favor...

Saw Willie in either 2000 or 2001 while in college... it was a very good show, but it felt like an important American experience...
