Have seen several hundred "headliners", but right now just want to say I saw three of the four Monkees in concert, together, playing as "The Monkees" - Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Peter Tork. They had Peter Noone (lead singer of Herman's Hermits) and his backup band open for them. That was neat in that Noone wrote several of the songs which the Monkees made famous - first by lip-synching, later by actually singing. :!
Not as cool as having seen other, more important bands while they were still all alive and all together, like the Beatles (I didn't see), the Who (I didn't see), or Led Zeppelin (I DID see.) Still they were iconic enough, and for me at that time, it was a lot of fun.
Davy Jones didn't die of a drug overdose. Obviously he wasn't a true rock star.
