I didn’t go to an ACC school, but went to college in ACC country(HBCU in VA), and can 2nd that statement. I had a buddy that played football for VA Tech and going to some of their games home and away were some of my favorite CFB times while in college

I've often thought that college football is leaving a large TV market on the table by not having more mid-week games. Have a big-time matchup on Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday. Sure, you probably don't have as many viewers as you would have on Saturday night, but you should be able to get some other big-time matchups Saturday night. If you're ESPN or Fox, you should be able to come up with 6 compelling games each week - one each Tuesday through Thursday, and three on Saturday. And let's quit saying that the players need to worry about classes - that line has been crossed so many times that it isn't a line.

Ha. My wife is as indifferent about mid-week games as she is weekend games.

And, back to my point, I like to consider myself a traditionalist. Play football Saturday afternoon, and occasionally Saturday night. But let's face it: the game is moving to make more money. Who isn't? I'm actually very surprised that they HAVEN'T moved more games to mid-week. They'd actually have a captive audience, in a way. Dummies like me who want to see more live football - I'd turn the TV on for Alabama-Ole Miss on Wednesday night. But if Alabama is playing Ole Miss Saturday afternoon, I'd be switching around and maybe more likely to spend more time on Iowa-Michigan State, even if the over/under is 19, and it's late in the game, and I'm pretty sure the "under" is going to win.

ACC schools Virginia and NC State announced Wednesday they would play a home-and-home series in football that will not count as an official conference game.

The schools will play in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Sept. 6, 2025, and in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2026.

This marks the second time in recent years that a pair of ACC rivals have scheduled a nonconference series. Wake Forest and North Carolina scheduled games in 2019 and 2021 to keep alive a longtime rivalry that had been off the regular league schedule following conference expansion.

Just sayin': Interesting scheduling of a non-conference game. I guess it does give you a "power 4" non conference game opponent and it will keep more money within your conference.

Weirder in this case, as UVA and NCState are not really rivals. UVA and UNC sure. UVA and VaTech, of course. Hell, even UVA and GaTech (1990) are all bigger rivals in UVA's eyes. Don't think NCState really thinks of UVA as a rival either. Can't imagine anyone was clammoring to put this one on the schedule.

You lost me at Iowa - Michigan State. However, for farce and slapstick comedy, it’s hard to beat the Old Oaken Bucket.
