Associate HC/DL Coach Larry Johnson Sr. (Official Thread)

JT Tuimola had some pretty damn good games last year. Just not the consitentcy of Bosa, or Chase in last year yet.
JT mostly had a great season and I think the consistency will follow. Plus Sawyer going to a true DE spot is going to help JT a lot imo. But as to LJ Sr, what a freaking job getting Scott on board! Dude is a legend.

Ugh, I was going to wait until tomorrow but I want to sleep tonight. This guy has done so many wonderful things for our program that it almost feels like blasphemy saying what I'm about to say.

The Defensive line has regressed so much and I watch them all do nothing but bull rush the opponent or just try to grab and pull the blocker past them. There are no technique moves happening, which LJ is known for and the worst thing is the rotation is nonexistent. Wonder if that is another reason why he and Knowles have butted heads?

I want him to go out on his own terms but I want him, to want, to retire and get paid as a consultant if he wants to. Missed on some guys this year in recruiting and we can't positively say the Dline is any better than they were at anytime before. If we aren't developing the guys behind the first line, we're going to be even freaking worse next year and no All American LBs behind them. Don't really know how you do it, but it needs to be done or we'll keep wasting the best roster talent in the country and not win championships.

Given how long the defense was on the field the second half, and it sure appeared they were getting tired, I expected to see more rotation on the DL. Melton and Curry are both high motor guys that may have helped get stops and additional pressure on the QB. I don’t claim to know the details of the scheme but definitely have questions on lack of subs on the line. Agreed on lack of vetting techniques also; just looks like the same approach to every pass rush.
