Fuck this. I'm not putting up with this shit this week. He's gone until Sunday...

Ah shit, I just wanted to point out that our conference schedule is much tougher than Notre Dame's conference schedule... I think you have to go back to Jerry Faust to find the last time they lost a Commanders Cup game.

ND's hand-picked officials are keeping the Domers in the game: (a) no call on obvious pass interference against an Army receiver in the end zone; (b) giving a fumble recovery to ND when Army pretty clearly had the ball in the scrum; (c) bogus personal fould call on Army.

But the way ND is playing, they might actually need some help from the zebras.

Yeah, the team decided to come out with Green jersies today since they won't be able to wear them away to USC next week for the last game. They wore them for the seniors they said, and since the team is losing a lot of players that have started numerous years. The way I see it, this helps break the curse of the green jersies, the team hadn't won in them since '85 I think :shake:
As far as the refs, generally the team uses the opponents refs from their conference, since they don't belong to a conference themselves. In the case of this Army game, I didn't see how they actually found the refs for this game. If they did pick the refs, then good...people whine how ND has calls go their way a lot of times, and of course its usually the opponent's refs that are calling the game...or neutral refs in bowl games I guess. Anyway, at least in this case, if ND did hand pick the refs then the calls on biased officiating can actually have some ground now :wink2:

Oh yeah, I just read in Weis's postgame wrap up that this week he was already preparing the team for the USC game next week, I dunno if that accounts for the teams sluggish start offensively today. This kind of goes against his motto of "One game at a time" though, as he was more concerned about USC than Navy (Which they should be). He said 3/4 of the plays they practiced this week came from the USC playbook, but he didn't tell the players. The game next week should be interesting, especially since USC probably didn't have much time this week to gameplan for ND with Cal on the block today. Weis also said hes already watched every play USC has run this year up to the Cal game, so hopefully the preparation will follow.

Army with the early 3-0 lead. Quinn has already thrown a pick (overall, he's 3 of 6 for 2 yards), and ND's offense doesn't look in sync yet.

I still can't believe that people still have him as a top five pick. There are great QBs on the college level whom scouts project to do well in the pros based on measurements, production and consistency. And there are guys whom you would stay the hell away from if you are a GM on a draft day. Brady Quinn doesn't even pass the test of being a great college QB in a pass-friendly offense. To me he's a Chris Sims type of player with the same type of potential. In other words, you take him at the end of the first day.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. ? Bring on USC.
A few minutes after leading Notre Dame to a 41-9 rout of Army yesterday, quarterback Brady Quinn went over to the student section to join in the cheers:
"Beat SC! Beat SC!" Quinn shouted, pumping an arm to keep the fans? rhythm.
Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis agreed with the message but added, ??They could have been louder."
It was a big day for the sixth-ranked Fighting Irish (10-1), who won their eighth straight to set up a showdown Saturday at No. 4 Southern Cal, where a win would give Notre Dame a chance of playing Ohio State in the BCS national title game Jan. 8.
The win over Army (3-8) was the last home game for Quinn and other Notre Dame seniors.
"This was a special moment," Quinn said after throwing for three touchdowns. "We don?t have too many opportunities to play your last game in Notre Dame Stadium. I did my best today to just take it all in."
Weis doesn?t usually admit looking ahead, but he already has watched every offensive and defensive play USC has run this year. He even said two-thirds of the plays the Irish practiced the past week were to prepare for the Trojans. He didn?t let the players know that.
"You can never look past one opponent and get yourself caught short," he said.
To make sure the Irish weren?t focusing on anything else, Weis ordered that the Michigan-Ohio State score not be announced during the game.
Despite being heavy favorites, the Irish came out wearing green uniforms for motivation. The rare appearance of the jerseys didn?t do much at first as Notre Dame came out flat.
Quinn threw his first interception in seven games on Notre Dame?s first possession, and the Irish trailed 3-0 late in the first quarter. But Notre Dame scored on its next five possessions and cruised to the victory.
Darius Walker ran for 162 yards and two scores for the Irish.
Weis said Notre Dame was ready to throw deep, but Army was ready. So he called the offense together for a chat.
"We are going to nickel and dime them because that?s what they have been dictating for you to do," he told them.
The win ended a four-game losing streak for the green jerseys. The Irish lost 34-31 to No. 1 USC last October, 14-7 to Boston College in 2002, 35-28 to Georgia Tech in the 1999 Gator Bowl and 41-24 to Colorado in the 1995 Fiesta Bowl.
"At least I got that stigma out of the way," Weis said. Notre Dame?s last victory wearing green before yesterday was 1985, when they came out in the first half wearing blue against USC and at halftime switched to green in a 37-3 victory.

Northern Illinois and Cincinnati would spank Army and Navy, and likely beat Air Force. Besides, we're mandated by the state to play at least one in-state school a year. You schedule patsies just for the fuck of it...

1. NIU & CINCY are a combined 3-6 all-time against AF, ARMY and NAVY!

2. ND plays Navy because Navy helped keep ND open during ND's early years.

3. ND plays the acadamies for several other reasons, history, Navy and Army are also Independents, the respect factor. Not to mention the fact that the BIG10 would not let ND in which forced ND's to look elsewhere for games during the early years.

As for the S0S discussion, it looks like after the USC game ND will end up at #24 (SAGARIN) while OSU will be at 27.
