Lllllllloyd...........:slappy:

Some have mentioned being torn here because they don't want to hear about the Big Ten being weak and there are other reasons as well, including not wanting to see Lloyd get fired....
Not me...Nope.... I love it. I don't like that school, never have liked that school and never will.

I will never forget all the shit we had to take for all those John Cooper years.
Have a wonderful Labor day weekend scUM fans!....

Appalachian State is a combined 4-18 vs Division 1A schools since 1990.

All 4 of those wins came against Wake Forest which had an overall record of 66-115 during that time frame placing them at 99th overall in winning percentage for Division 1A.

That means App St went 4-6 against one of the worst programs in Div 1A and 0-12 vs everyone else. The worst team in the Big10 (Indiana) slots in at 92nd overall (7 spots above Wake).

Youngstown State's sole success was against Kent (4-3) the WORST 1A team before Buffalo got bumped up, Akron (4-1-1) & Ohio when they were both the dregs of the Div.

Having success against MAC bottom dwellers isn't equatable with being a mid-pack Big 10 team.

Actually competing in a major conference is a far cry from occasionally knocking off an opponent at the beginning of the year.

Mid pack teams like Minnesota, MSU & Purdue have better athletes and more depth (even bumping them up to 85 schollies) than either of the aforementioned programs and going against that greater talent & numbers for an entire season wears down even the best of teams.

A highly regarded team like PSU has struggled to keep it's conference record above the numbers you mentioned since joining.

Appalachian State ain't PSU.

I have no doubt that either program could manage to find success if moved up to 1A but neither has the components needed to beat Big 10 (or SEC, Big12, PAC10, Big East) schools on a regular basis. The benchmark for making the jump is Marshall. They wouldn't have 5-3 in the Big10 and had much better athletes than either App or YSU.

Now just for once put your money where your mouth is and support your own silly claims.

I don't have any stats or hard evidence to back my claim up, but I have to agree somewhat with Mili here. I won't say they would go .500 in the Big 10, but I would be willing to say they would contend for a conference title in a conference like the Sun-Belt or even the MAC.

Like I said I am not basing this off of any hard facts or statistics, I just saw them play three times last year and then today against scUM. Their QB Armanti Edwards is as good as Juice Williams from Illinois. College football fans all over the nation saw how good he can be, and trust me, Armanti Edwards is every bit as good. Watch some film... Armanti Edwards is the real deal. His stat line last year when App, St. dominated YSU in the semifinals (10/12 164 yds 1TD... 16 carries 101 yds 3TD). They then had an impressive victory against Umass in the championship game. Dexter Jackson is a speedy WR and we saw how fast he was today against scUM. Kevin Richardson is also a very good RB for them. This team has some serious talent and would probably beat about 1/2 of the D-1 teams out there with regularity.

Mike Hart here. In case you all forgot, we're Michigan. We don't lose 3 games in a year, we don't get blown out in bowl games, especially by Pac 10 teams, we don't lose to Ohio State, and we sure as HELL would never lose to some Division 3-FF Inbred Appalachian Mountain Middle School thingy. We're Michigan. Did I mention we're Michigan? I said we're Michigan...

I don't know man...I respect Mili a lot, but I have to disagree here. Looking back at the game, if they didn't play an unbelievable first half, they don't come close to winning that game, because they didn't really play all that well in the 2nd half until the end when they needed it. Even the dUMb defense started creating turnovers and getting stops, and they were terrible. I respect Appy State and their program, but I really don't see them or Youngstown competing at a I-A level week-to-week...maybe in the Sun Belt, but certainly not in a BCS conference.

Fiu Take ... How Could Michigan Lose?
Scout.com: Fiu Take ... How Could Michigan Lose?
on Hart Henne and Carr's legacies
They?re the ones who were part of the all-timer loss. They?re the ones who?ll have to hear about this for the rest of their lives no matter if they win five Super Bowls and go to the Hall of Fame. They?re the ones who were the leaders of a team that obviously wasn?t focused enough, and Appalachian State took advantage.

App State students tore down the goalposts IN BOONE and deposited them at the Chancellor's house--what a hoot!

For those still doubting App State . . . . SCOREBOARD!!

Give us 85 ships and see what we could do!!

Maybe I'll give a post-view of Coach Jerry Moore after I've come back to Earth. One of the all-time greats, at any level, in my book.

Go Mountaineers!!

Well, the Big Ten definitely suffered a serious black eye with this historical upset. And I haven't stopped laughing since the blocked FG!

Driving home from BW3, my sons and I watched the end of the scUM game, after talking some about the Bucks victory, there was some silence in the car. Then I just started to laugh. Laughing like one would do after a couple of bongs. My youngest asked what I was laughing about and my oldest immediately said, "Because the skunkbears got beat by Appalachian State!". The next 2 miles were driven by the 3 of us laughing very hard.

Today may be the greatest start to a college football season that I have ever witnessed with OSU winning, scUM suffering a historical loss (in the big shithouse no less), and NoD (and NoO) getting bitch slapped at home.

I also agree that they would not compete in a BCS conference. However, that unbeleivable first half they played is going to be the norm for them once they get into their regular competition. When they are on later this year during the subdivision playoffs, watch them. They are really a fun team to watch as they have some serious playmakers. Like I said I watched them last year during the playoffs and was really impressed by what I saw from them. They are on a different level than other subdivison programs.
