What car/truck/etc do you guys drive?

I've got a 20+ mile one way over to Hilliard for work and go through a tank a week in my Wrangler (I get about 18-19mpg)

Ouch. From going to the auto show it seems like most newer mid-size and smaller cars are getting at least 30 MPG. My 2003 Galant gets 25ish highway so they are doing a better job with cars these days. Back when gas was $4 my dad bought a Civic to go with his F150 and basically paid for it with what he was saving in gas. Noted he had an 1.5 hour commute each way. My commute is short enough that I could buy a Volt and never put gas in it.

I'll post my $3.99 (mid-grade) price per gallon and let y'all gloat.....California (which has plenty of crude and gasoline production) pounds each gallon with plenty of taxes, which adds about $.35 per gallon. Supposed to pay for the roads, but probably goes into the State general fund instead.....someone said that prices will come down as fast as they went up.....wrong-0, they NEVER come down as fast as they go up. Look for the Big Oil profits to be higher this quarter.....and I understand that the Gov'ts strategic oil supply is busting at the seams, down in Arkansas. You would think they'd release some of the oil and help out with the price pressure.....

Yeah I can deal with it though for the fun I've had. Unfortunately its just a hold me over until I get the 4dr wrangler which still gets 17-19mpg's. Somehow Chrysler just can't make a more efficient engine for the Jeep.

But I'm spending about $200 a month on Gas. It sucks with not making a nice salary :(

Me and the fiance are moving back to Pickerington most likely this summer, so i'll probably be finding a job closer to there.

I drive from Springfield to whitehall every day. I'm up to about $400 a month right now.

but I don't really blame the oil companies as much as I blame the weakening of the dollar and the speculation market that is completely out of control at the moment.

I've got a '99 CR-V that gets about 25 highway mpg and about 17 city. It is underpowered otherwise it could get better. I find that i get about an average of 250 miles a tank with an ~ 13 gallon tank. Most of my driving is usually city for work, although my commute to and from is all highway.

I can't really complain, it could be much worse than it is, but it still fucking sucks paying out the ass for gas. :smash:

Good stuff. That is a long haul for you. Ever think about moving closer?

I live on N. Hamilton, that's why I figured you did. Hiring?

There are some contractor spots but I don't really have an idea what DLA or DFAS are looking for in that arena or really what companies they use....otherwise go to usajobs.com for Govy spots

yeah it's a long-ass haul - certainly longer than my trips to WrightPitiful.

We are looking at houses or building a house all along the eastside of Columbus, but that all comes with a caveat that we need to sell the house in Springfield first

You can do it. Just gotta get lucky sometimes. It sucks right now selling a house, but it's not impossible. Hopefully sooner rather than later for you and the fam!

I don't think I could put up with that drive everyday. Man that's rough

Believe it or not, I get that in my 07 F250 turbo diesel. I averaged 18.5 a gallon last spring/summer. I get nearly 600 miles to the tank-which is 35ish gallons. Lowest I've ever gotten in it was 15 mpg from Nov-March when winter blend fuels are used.

Acura RDX. I commute 15 miles one-way and get about 23-24 mpg, unless I get turbo happy and bring it down to 21-22 mpg.
