Alabama indefinitely suspends starting lineman Alphonse Taylor

Very early Sunday morning, Taylor was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. A day later, Alabama has announced that the offensive lineman has been indefinitely suspended by Saban.

“We are very disappointed any time a player makes a choice that leads to this kind of behavior,” the head coach said in a statement. “We are still in the process of gathering all of the details on the situation, but from a football standpoint, Alphonse Taylor has been indefinitely suspended from the team.”

Uhhh because ridin' round wit a sto'lin pe'uhstle and some chronic aren't grounds for an indefinite suspension. DUI should lead to a promotion at Alabama.

BAC for arrested Alabama OL Alphonse Taylor was a Blutarsky

This is certainly at least a mildly interesting development.

Earlier this month, offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. A day later, Alabama announced that the offensive lineman had been indefinitely suspended.

However, there’s a mitigating factor head coach Nick Saban may need to take into consideration when determining any additional punitive measures. According to court documents obtained by the Tuscaloosa News, Taylor took a pair of breathalyzer tests at 9:19 a.m. the morning of the incident. And, per the documents, both tests showed the lineman had a 0.0 BAC.

.
.
.
It should be noted, though, that Taylor was officially charged with driving under the influence of any substance which impairs the mental or physical faculties; no blood test was taken either at the scene or after he was arrested and taken to the Tuscaloosa Police Department station. That said, Taylor’s attorney is already angling for a way to get his client out of his predicament.

“Anytime you have a .00 blood-alcohol and there’s not a long time period between the arrest and the time of the test, it raises an eyebrow,” Jason Neff told the Decatur Daily. “What compounds this situation is we have a traffic accident in which (Taylor) hit his head on the steering wheel. …

Maurice Smith says Bama threw his stuff in garbage after decision to transfer

Alabama defensive back Maurice Smith claims that his locker was cleared out and his things were thrown in the trash after he informed the school of his decision to transfer, according to a letter Smith wrote that was obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Smith, who wrote the letter on July 1 to the Alabama appeal committee, stated that he was no longer allowed in the athletic facilities and among the personal items thrown out were "my family photos, written goals, inspirational and sentimental items memorializing my deceased former friend, roommate and teammate, Altee Tenpenny, and items of personal value from my former teammates."

@Gcashwell or @BigWoof31, any other side to this story out there yet? The tossing out of personal stuff seems over the top and a bit hard for me to blindly accept as true.

My 2nd day of two-a-days in 6th grade I returned to my locker at lunch to find my locker cleared out and all my stuff in the trash, and that was because the 7th and 8th graders were pissed I pushed the pace on a lap around the park and made it... not leisurely, because I wanted to fucking play that year and tried to show some effort.

Great chemistry on that team. Probably why we went 2-7.

I can't verify this yet and it hasn't shown up on any of the Dawg Blawgs.
All I know is the kid has graduated and wants to play his senior year for Kirby Smart. Saban says no.
If he leaves and comes to UGA, he has to enroll as a grad student and sit out a year if Alabama doesn't approve the transfer.
