Nebraska is a Volleyball school
Yes, Nebraska just got curb-stomped. While they may attempt an appeal, it is highly likely that will fail, if it is even heard. Most likely we'll be back in when reviews happen again - in ten years.

Faulkner's statement should be amended to say, "Even if UNL research continued to grow at the same rate for another decade, it would still remain at the bottom of the AAU under current methods of measurement."
The AAU ignored one of their typical gauges, which is to assess a school's trajectory, when voting on expulsion. Nebraska's trajectory is clearly very much UP, and that's not even taking membership in the CIC into account. Without the CIC, UNL has a project underway which will make it a much stronger research school. This research park currently under construction was, apparently, not taken into account for the vote.
Why? Why was Nebraska chosen to be the only school ever removed from the AAU? It's not because of academics, which are better now than they were ten years ago. It's not because of trajectory, which is clearly on the rise. Doesn't make sense.
Indeed, by many measures, UNL has seen significant improvement in the past decade ? federal research dollars grew from $37.8 million in 1999-2000 to $83.7 million in 2008-2009. The number of freshmen with ACT scores of 31 or higher has grown from 260 in 2002 to 489 in 2010.
The AAU acknowledged that UNL?s federal research funding has grown 2.1 percent faster than that of the rest of the AAU membership during the past decade.
However, the AAU?s membership review committee ? headed by Larry R. Faulkner, president emeritus of the University of Texas at Austin ? found that even if UNL research continued to grow at the same rate for another decade, it would still remain at the bottom of the AAU.
