Disagree. 3-possession game...too early to risk getting stuffed. Take the points there.

Agreed. That team could not handle another disappointment there.

I agree it was 3 posession game and no points there makes the game over at that point almost.
It was not a 3-possession game. 23-7 is a 16 point differential, which makes it a 2-possession game.

I think they made life too easy on Purdue with two option calls. And no bn27, I didn't want I-form there

First and goal at the three versus the worst defense in the Big Ten and we go shotgun three times. Call me old school but sometimes I-formation is still a good strategy.

It was indeed a two possession game there - the longest of longshots for a two possession game. You have to score on 4th down, convert a two pointer, get another TD and another two pointer after that. You pretty much have to thread the needle.

I think it was smarter to take the points. The Buckeyes had time for two more possessions, and if they hadn't let Purdue go down and kick that FG they don't have to go for two the rest of the game if they get in the end zone.

We ran three plays and gained zero yards, yet you're posting as though going for 4th down was a guaranteed 8 points.

The problem wasn't the FG on 4th down. The problem was the inability to gain yardage on the first three downs.

Love my Bucks.

Epic Offensive Fail. I mean how do you reconcile this loss? We JUST LOST TO PUR-DON'T. Not Iowa, not Wisconsin, not Michigan, not Penn State, not one of the enumerable big game top 5 losses. We lost to Pur-Don't.

Not a fluke, not a last minute crazy unexplained play. We lost HANDLY to a 1-5 team (granted, probably the best 1-5 team ever) BUT STILL. 1-5.

Just inexcusable. The offense actually had life in the 4th quarter...why does it take until then to come to life? What happened to the run game? Why did the Offensive line look like we were playing Alabama's Defense? It wasn't like Purdue's offense destroyed us, many of those points were because of good field position. I want blood. I want someone to answer for this debacle. This is inexcusable.

F the world. Come on Bucks. Figure this crap out. Decide whether it's a Pryor issue or a play call issue, or an O-line issue...I don't care, FIX IT!
:oh:

It's fair criticism. The Buckeyes have massive problems on offense, if the last two games are any indication. Two possessions, three possessions...shucks, it doesn't really matter guys. I just hate it when Ohio State loses at football and I suppose I won't be fit to be around for a few days after this one.

there is nothing good about being 1-5, especially when 1 of those losses was a stinker to Northern Illinois

and plus on the sun belt broadcast on ESPN2 this week the announcers proclaimed Arkansas State the best 1 win team in the country!

Hey... Here's to hoping Florida lays an egg against Arkansas... They are looking every bit as impressive as Ohio State did today. -3 on TO's and just not clicking on offense. Every team has it's off days.

It's beginning to feel like the season of 2004 all over again. You just knew the defense had to have a bad game. Too bad the offensense could not help out today. Oh well - the sun will shine tommorrow.

hard to blame the defense when the offense is basically hanging them out to dry by turning it over or going 3 and out left and right

This game re-affirmed my deep hatred for the new clock rules.

While OSU's slow restarts hurt them as well, it really hurts the chances for comebacks when the clock runs after every single completion or run, regardless of whether you stepped out of bounds.

If we don't convert on 4th and 2, what chances does the offense have of driving the ball down the field twice and scoring TD's both times? Especially when they hadn't been able to move the ball at all on the weak Purdue D. Not to mention the fact that if we hadn't scored, Purdue won't have scored the additional FG either.

Sitting in my office, listening to Purdue-commentator team was pretty painful. Who need to execute. Lack of execution on O masked any problems with playcalling, IMO. I just want to win a bowl game this year. Against a SEC team. Capital bowl anyone...?
