5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Personally, I hope they sit the Sugar Bowl. Either way, that game has lost almost all of it's luster. I'm totally indifferent towards it now and will be even moreso if these five play.

I kinda feel the same way...but I havn't quite reached the acceptance stage of mourning...

When the news broke about Troy Smith before the Alamo bowl in '04, i was one of the "throw em off the team" guys. I was worried about burning Boekman's redshirt if Zwick got hurt (which almost happened by the way). During the game when Zwick pulled up lame, I even said to my brother, "if they burn Boekman's redshirt, Smith should be gone, no ifs ands or buts". As time went on, I realized that "throw em off the team" isn't really fair. Whatever the NCAA and OSU agree on as the punishment is fine with me. If they are allowed to play, I guess play them.

Although, I am still in the camp that would agree with suspending them 1 game this year and the first 4 next year. With hopes of geting the 4 reduced to 3.

I'm still excited for it. I think we'll be fine. I think the suspension will get dropped to 4. We win the first 4 games and then it's time for Big Ten play with a loaded team.

Miami will be tough with Golden though.

Absolutely. I'm not sure why Gene Smith, Tressel, or the NCAA wants these guys active. From what I've seen, most Ohio State fans want them suspended for the game.

It seems fairly obvious to me. And to top it off, the bowl game is essentially meaningless. You'd think our administration would prefer starting the clock on the suspensions ASAP.

the rule has to be there why? when you consider how much money these players bring in and the money that others make off of them it is unfair.

in no way do i think it is an easy fix, but the rules need to be reevaluated to make the system more fair for all parties involved - not just people at the top.

I have to admit that I'm tiring of hearing how much money these players bring in. The money is generated by the program and the brand it has built up over the last 100 years. If any single Buckeye had chosen to go elsewhere, not a single dollar would have been lost.

For me a win with these players would mean a lot less to me then it would have before. Not so much because I feel what they did was wrong. But instead that they knew what they were doing was wrong and could hurt the football team as a whole. That's putting themselves over the team...I don't like it. And those who are trying to say they didn't know it was wrong, that's bogus. They knew. If they were unsure, they should have asked the University. They didn't ask because they knew the answer.

Also hurts to know that the gold pants and championship rings meant no more than a few thousand dollars to these guys.

It's bad luck to give your gold pants to anybody but your mom. 2008 was the first year Pryor won them...and he sold them. If his mom wanted to sell them fine, but he shouldn't have.

On a side note...and this is serious. Next time they need to give all their awards to their parents...and if their parents happen to sell it, then so be it. If Pryor was so concerned about his mom having money, he should have given his mom the awards and said, "Do with this what you want." And left it at that.

To me, their actions weren't bad. Its the fact that they did things that they knew could hurt the entire football team.

If there was an NCAA or team rule that said you aren't allowed to wear green t-shirts, and these players went and wore green t-shirts anyway, I'd feel just the same. You signed up to be a part of the NCAA...so follow their dumb rules. Otherwise don't sign up.

The NCAA is making so much money from these players that it's obscene.....

..it's like you want to enter the work force, but there's a law that says you can't until you do at least three years of internship, and oh by the way you are only paid sustenance during that period, and there's a whole compliance department to make sure that you don't work overtime or get a second job.....

....I honestly feel for the players, but I really feel sorry for the fans. Let's face it, with this ruling the NCAA has handed down the axe for this post season and also next season. One season is like one percent of OSU's storied tradition, and a higher percentage for some of the new followers.....

....needless to say this has really dampened my enthusiasm for collegiate athletics in general...

.....thanks a lot NCAA.
