5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Herbstreit and the rest of the dicks at espin should be all over this.

After all of the eye rolling and the "non binding" comments they owe Jim Tressel and all 5 of those players an apology. They were basically questioning the honesty and loyalty of the players involved.

Turns out that integrity and honor do mean something to some people.

Yes it does, just not to ESPiN folk.

You saw Jessica Alba shaking Jim Tressel's hand? Awesome! Got pictures?

Romper Room.

Who gives a rat's ass if ESPN gives the Buckeyes and JT any credit here? The nation is going to hate on OSU because we are an annual powerhouse without a flashy offense. Whether they issue an apology to Ohio State or not, they will manufacture reasons to show their hate, so who really cares how this gets played out in the media? It's about winning games, winning Big10 crowns, and beating Michigan. The Buckeyes do those things like it's their mother f-ing mission in life, and I'm loving it.

It's going to be great to see those 5 back in S&G next fall.

For numerous reasons, I'd like to see the suspension reduced. However, one of the reasons would be to make their 1st game back a home game so they can get the monstrous ovation from the fans that they deserve. Yeah, what they did was wrong, but in America we're always willing to give a 2nd chance (especially to those that have earned it).

I doubt the suspensions will be reduced by more than 1 game. I think the NCAA will take a lot of heat if they change it by more than that and right now they (Mark Emmert) are concerned about their public persona. I'm ready to move on from this and hoping that it's not beat into the ground next year by the local or national media.

Go Bucks and when is the spring game :)

Since the players have to pay back the amount of money they received for the items they sold, do they get their items back?

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC QUESTION! I never thought of this (duh!). How could it possibly be "right" to make them give back the money they received for selling personal property without getting the property back??? Obviously they can't truly get back the items (I don't think), so maybe a fair appraisal should be given and that's the balance they can keep?

You're correct. It's not even so much about ohio state as it is about the big ten . As the most successful program, we just happen to catch the brunt of their venom. Espn used to love the big ten right up unril we started the btn AND paired with fox to do so. After that, it was right out of 1984. We were the enemy, and the sec was the new golden boy.

They pay the equivalent of what they received for selling the items to a charity of their choice. So no, they don't get back what they sold and they can not keep any balance.

Because those items weren't really the players' personal property in the normal sense. There were mutually agreed upon strings attached. They were allowed to keep those items as long as they didn't sell them during their collegiate playing careers. When they sold the items, they very likely kissed them goodbye, with no compensation to be had.

Stewart Mandel talks about how teams are affected by players declaring, and not declaring, for the NFL Draft.

Ohio State: Apparently Jim Tressel's mandated pre-bowl pledge was in fact iron clad, because quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Dan "Boom" Herron, receiver DeVier Posey and tackle Mike Adams all returned despite facing a five-game NCAA suspension. So, too, did center Mike Brewster. The Buckeyes will need all the help they can get offensively while breaking in seven new starters on defense.

Cont'd ...
