#5 Lousiville 44, #3 West Virginia 34 (Final)

So, effectively W. Va. is out of the race. (Where is the "Told Ya" emoticon?)

Lousiville will not, I will tell you right now, be number 3 in my BP poll, unless Florida lays a huge egg in their next game. #4 and that's all I feel they are worth right now, because they cannot stop anything that is moving. Plus, they sem primed for one-dimensional destruction on offense - take away the run, punish the QB and they would have nothing.

Rutgers might be the one team that plays defense in this league....I don't know if they can match these offenses though....

Not so fast....look who Rutgers have accumulated their defensive performances against. Pretty much the same teams that Louisville and West Virginia have, who came into this game 7th and 8th in the nation in scoring defense. The Big East is fool's gold. I've been saying it all year. You have pundits hyping up South Florida and Cincinnati as if they weren't mid majors just two minutes ago, or they magically transformed their mid major recruits into major ones overnight. It has really been funny to watch guys like Herbstreit and Petros Papadopldjskjdkis stumble over each other to do that because it was the chic thing to do. If my Wisconsin goes 11-1, and loses a BCS spot to: a Big East team, Boise St., the ACC rep, Notre Dame, etc.; it will be a farce.

Dude...

The max # of teams per conference in the BCS is 2. For the Big 10 that's OSU and Michigan. Sorry, but Wiscy's gettin' left out whether the Bowl's want them or not.

If tOSU and Michigan win their next two games, Wiscy has zero chance at a BCS game, since no conference is allowed more than 2 BCS teams.

edit - DBB beat me to the punch on that one.

Bingo. The media keeps hyping them because they had three undefeated teams. What does that mean? If Wisky hadn't played Michigan they would still be undefeated. Rearrange the SEC schedule a little bit and you have four undefeated teams.

If the "Big Three" from the Big East end up with a total of three loses among them does it mean they are good or that the rest of the conference is weak?

If either of the two teams I saw tonight played in the BCS title game it would be an abomination.

When we gave up something like 578 yards against Minnie last season it was an embarrasment - I believe the second worst total in school history. One of the low points of the season despite it being a win.

L'ville gives up 541 yards and 34 points and will be using that game to lay claim to a spot in the title match.

Fool's gold indeed.
