2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

I've seen plenty of people across the internet calling for the "Put TSC in and just air it out deep a lot and let Jeremiah and CHjr make the plays" gameplan.

It's fun in theory; the problem is you need a good OL that can hold up long enough to allow for those deep throws to happen. We just don't have that this year.
The last thing that we need to be is predictable. Develop a game plan that keeps them off balanced.

I wonder. What has been the play calling in the red zone like personnel and formations break down. I’d wager it’s the “I’m gonna show Lou we can play big boi football” that has derailed a majority of those drives. Day just can’t seem to accept the team the last couple of years are NOT power run team.

4D chess of not even having Jeremiah on the field!

I think you got to get Fahey going on the move more often than not, this OL just isn't good enough to try to play constant pocket passer ball with him with teams surely trying to just tee off coming after the QB. Give him a main option, a checkdown option and then either take off running or throw it away if neither are there.

I just truly do not understand Day's obsession with multiple tight end sets despite not having good tight ends
I am so sick and tired of hearing about TEs. I’m sure they’re all great kids but I swear I wish we had like 1 TE total.

When we go 12 personnel it’s guaranteed we don’t have our best 11 on the field. They can’t block, they can catch but they aren’t Henry Jr or Brock.

Bummer that their play has been so medicore for a while now that it just spoils the room all together

I think Roberts has done much better recently. Not sure how much Williams has improved, but Roberts gives them flexibility.

The overall offensive regression holistically under him is bewildering. Just truly odd how much you’ve been wrecking WR recruiting and the rate at which we just trot TEs out there is beyond absurd.

Give me Mike Locksley to run the offense. I know he’s an awful HC but dude can call plays and recruit the east coast. Maybe he brings a couple dudes with him. Maybe his QB if it doesn’t work out with anyone in the room.

Yes I am losing my mind this morning.

I mean we had a red zone possessions where arguably the best player in program history sat out multiple plays so they could get Mason Williams on the field

Along with Max Leblanc and Christianson.

We have way too many tight ends and they’re all fairly average at best as blockers.

Makes me think, the offense really changed when Kevin Wilson moved on. He was really good as a play caller but tight ends under him were pretty good too.

I agree the offense just hasn’t been right since post CJ stroud. Flashes of course but not the juggernaut it once was. I just don’t think the staff is that great to be honest. Bowen is always under scrutiny for the on field play, the QB coach was a promotion, Carlos has been ok but has struggled with recruiting (I think we just need to invest more there), and then of course Bailey who again was an internal hire.

As for Lockley- I doubt Ryan would do that consider the Chase Young issue but yeah I agree he was good with Alabama.
