2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

Well, one thing I will say is, usually these moments help the coaches to refocus with sharp relief on whatever it is that they were distracting themselves tinkering around with and over thinking. Good coaches anyway. It usually helps them either find their lost creativity (Tressel with basically Ginn at QB against OK St) or back to basics and really execute plus use the new QB's new super power (Meyer, insert new QB here). I actually doubt Day will go in trying to play Man Ball on the road at USC, because he won't want to have it blow up and Fahey be in 3rd and 7 all day, I think they'll look to find chunk plays actually.

Yep, the absolute worst thing you can do right now is go 1st and 2nd down choregraphed runs for 3 or less years and end up in constant 3rd and 5+ situations

I just dont think our offensive scheme did Sayin any favors. To me he's a short game thrower. Especially with our line who cant pass protect for the 10th year in a row. Justin Fields was a deep shot thrower, Sayin is not
problem with short throws is you gotta use the middle of the field…. which Sayin seems to have trouble with be it due to a bad play design (ie slow developing), pass pro issues, or being able to reliable see that part of the field

The main thing they really need to do from the start is utilize Fahey as a runner and make it clear that they will utilize him as a runner. The threat of a running QB can really help open up other things. He's not Braxton or anything but he is capable.
Exactly..... that is the one way to get the run game moving.

TTUN just did that exact thing.

With time to prepare the week (or two) before, I highly like Luke's chances of clearing the low bar set by most of these backup QBs.
I think this is what's being lost in a lot of these discussions. Fahey looked like a disaster against IU.....that's not really up for debate. But he's also going to get 2 weeks of practice with the 1s, the attention of the entire offensive coaching staff to come up with a plan for the new reality, and god dammit we have Jeremiah Smith.

It's disappointing that, with the game on the line against a really good team, we did not have a QB who would've been able to win us the game had we not been ahead by 2 scores. We're allowed to be concerned about that. And we're also allowed to be concerned that Fahey might look similar in the next game we see him in. It's a non-zero possibility. But it's more likely that he's better prepared against USC than he was for Indiana.

I'm adjusting my hopes/expectations to:
1. get him ready for Michigan
2. make him good enough to get JJ the Heisman

Everything after that is a bonus

With Fahey the middle of the field to McCuin, Bell and Parker should be there for the taking.
uhm…. Fahey is shorter than Sayin so are you counting on better pass pro or better play designs? Or are you thinking roll him out and throw back across this body to the middle of the field?
