2024 tOSU Defense Discussion

What Jim Knowles has done with the defense is incredible. The look with Downs as a deep middle linebacker is really different. You can tell it’s giving teams real problems right now.
it was very clear during both the tennessee game and the oregon game that iamalevea and gabriel were confused and twitchy trying to read that look.

when texas' offense has been productive it's based on ewers quickly reading opposing defenses on important drives. this look from our defense is going to totally blow that up, and without the same mobility as gabriel or iamalevea, ewers is going to have a really difficult day.

i think the first time we started to see this was in the penn state game, and the effect it had on allar. this is also what scrambled curtis rourke...

and it's what knowles has been saying for three years, that he wants to create a defense that confuses opposing quarterbacks. and it's what we're seeing. what will be interesting is how this will evolve over the next two or three years and knowles puts more pieces in place.

kinda cool to see the plan coming together.

Kind of lost in the narrative is that we had four potential INTs that we did not convert on yesterday. Simon had one and Downs had three that were possible, although at least one would have taken a hell of an effort. Ewers has been prone to throwing picks all year and seems to be regressing in that area, so hopefully we can get a couple this week.
Yep, it’s an anomaly to tip or deflect 9 passes and not get a single interception. A couple of those tipped passes could have easily become pick-6s with a different bounce of the ball.
