*2024 tCun Shenanigans, Arguments, Cobras, Feckless Marmots, Fake Pandas, Dirty Cheaters

Most hearings take longer than they should because judges do enjoy the trappings of their power.

The way it should go is with the judge, panel in this case, doing all of the necessary reading ahead of time. If that has been done in this case, then all a fair and impartial judge would say is, “To the honorable representative from the university of Michigan, I have one question: Can you give me one reason why I shouldn’t have the bailiff shove your response to the NOA up your ass sideways before rendering the verdict?”

That’s it. That’s the whole hearing: (apart from the screaming)
Do you think I could get video of the screamings? I will settle for just an audio recording in Dolby Atmos if no 4K video is available.

I hear the narrative switching to Ohio State Tatgate and how that produced NCAA rule changes. Thus, this wasn't that big of a deal and the NCAA must allow visits to games and taping with a rule change. That is factually untrue. We should also recall that Ohio State punishments were at least as severe as we are hearing under many scenarios for TCUN, despite not really impacting on any wins or losses.

The organized and multifaceted aspects of TCUN cheating need to be seen in detail, not diminished. This is not just about Connor Stalions and his cheating recording during games. It is about improperly accessing Ohio State computers and confidential materials as well. The total product was not only knowing what offensive or defensive play Ohio State was calling, but the exact nature of the playbook and the ideal TCUN play to call.

The effects of TCUN cheating were much higher than just having illegal players on the field, which appears to be the bar for a forfeit. They need to forfeit games, as it is clear they would not have won without cheating. If they do not get an appropriate punishment, then Ohio State alumni need to become active in confronting the NCAA and Ohio State needs to make clear that they are setting out to replace the NCAA with another structure. If the B1G cannot support them in these endeavors, then they should reconsider that as well. Perhaps the SEC might be interested in gutting the B1G.

I can’t think that they’d dispute the allegations but are more so disputing the punishment?

that or they’re going to go the loophole theory we used to see when this was uncovered. The whole “well Conor himself didn’t go so technically those going to the games weren’t staff members”.

I bet they’re stupid enough to fight the allegations outright though.
It's more arrogance than stupidity, imho.

Ono was never, ever going to voluntarily give up 2023 (and maybe 21-22 also). Sadly, instead of seeing him as the jock-sniffing incompetent who made everything worse, they're going to view them as their champion and martyr who fought to the end because they didn't do anything wrong.

This thing shouldn't take too long. I'd hope the COI already has their penalties in mind, and they give tcun one final (like an hour or two max) to convince them otherwise and then make their ruling. This has been dragging out for 90 days, it's just time to let the condemned have their last word and swing the sword.

Unheard of on-field cheating scheme that compromised the games
Repeat offenders
Complete lack of cooperation from the coaches from Stalions up to Harbaugh
Caught tampering with witnesses
A member of their board threatening the NCAA
A grandstanding university President who refused to cooperate through the entire process, circled the wagons with the coaches, and threatened lawsuits

Steve is right. If this doesn't bring the ncaa hammer, then Ohio State should publicly and fully support any efforts for an organization or structure that replaces the ncaa.

Also, we should recognize our wins in the 2010 season.

Except some of the tickets went to TSUN staffers. Interns i believe.

I've speculated on this, and that is clearly why the B1G brought in Vegas' go to firm right in the beginning. Vegas wasn't going to fuck around, and they have none of the ncaa's limitations and timeframes to worry about. That's why I don't think anything's happening on this front. I'm not saying that tcun players and coaches weren't betting, but I am saying that if there was a trail, Vegas would have already sniffed it out.

Also, this isn't just players gambling on sports. It's about players gambling on sports with an inside knowledge that the line was compromised. No way does Vegas slow play that. If they were ripping off the casinos though, I just wish these guys were still running Las Vegas.

One BIG difference between "Tatgate" and the Cheaters that tends to get lost in the shuffle is that the sanctions OSU was hit with weren't because of what the players did. The NCAA handed down the 5 game suspensions for the players and closed the case in December of 2010. The sanctions were because it was discovered the following Spring that Tress had knowledge of the players actions prior to the start of the 2010 season and took no action. He claimed on the compliance paperwork for the NCAA that he had no knowledge of any eligibility concerns even though he knew those players were not eligible OSU also self reported everything when it was discovered and fully cooperated with the NCAA.
TCUN has tried to stonewall the investigation every step of the way and was also aware of the illegal scouting in early 2013 and took no action at all. I don't think the two situations can be compared.

Failure To Monitor versus Lack Of Institutional Control (probably the worst since SMU). I won't even care if they get the death penalty.
