*2024 tCun Shenanigans, Arguments, Cobras, Feckless Marmots, Fake Pandas, Dirty Cheaters

Throwing huge amount of money at kids regardless of culture fit has worked out so well for teams like A&M, right? And we all know super rich people made their money throwing it away on pet projects or on investments that provided little to no return. Just a very smart model they are using.

:slappy:

I’m sure that given their culture up there, fit isn’t much of a consideration.

This is the most fascinating side of NIL.

All it takes is some billionaire who decides a football team is more important than filling an art museum or financing a political candidate and the sky is the limit.

Phil Knight on steroids. Imagine Elon Musk wants Penn to be Champs. 50 million is nothing.

The potential is unlike anything in professional sports.

I may have lived too long...

Update, direct quoting and paraphrasing from my source for transparency's sake. (I don't love things being so cryptic) It's CMU. "Escalatory language." Sounds like 30 days to sweat it out. Someone jumped the shark.

One more note before we head to the theater for the day-
Enforcement staff was pretty upfront throughout discussions that an extension was unlikely to be granted. However, UM raised an issue whose significance to their reply was "marginal," but not zero, so it was granted. Enforcement has gone above and beyond to run this thing 100% by the book as to curtail any appeals down the road, which is why it appears this went the way it went.
Chippewas coming in on our side of this one.

Almost 100% sure this specific drip came from... another involved party.
UM is still fighting to protect the lid. But things are starting to pop.

There is growing frustration in many corners of legacy media over the stranglehold. They might think what they think, but they have to know what they know. It's coming.

Comment 6 hours ago
While a negotiated resolution of agreed-upon facts and sanctions was possible, UM has elected to take this to a full hearing before the committee on infractions. In this case, sanctions are handed down. Not negotiated.

Bolded makes sense. Ono is absolutely going to die on this sword. I've said it before; he's terribly emotionally damaged and will never do anything that alienates him from the foosball coaches and players. He's the nerdy Asian cello playing kid who was really good at science, and now he's the "adult" who's desperate to win the affection of the guys who would have bullied him in high school.

Part of me thinks he survives for two reasons. First, whatever his shortcomings are as an actual university President (or human being), he's a sublimely clever and oily political manipulator as witnessed by how he turned the board at juggalo state against the President who hired him as Provost and then stepped into the job himself. Two, I question whether the egotistical powers at tsun are capable of admitting they made such a huge mistake in hiring this guy.

If the legacy media are so anxious, where/when do the rumors, speculations, and leaks begin? i‘m guessing things are pretty salty at the UM PAO over what to say and when to say it. Black Friday could take on a whole new meaning.

Haha they really are just brainwashed about all of this. They elected to have a hearing…

Fucking cowards until the end. They had a chance to man up and come to a resolution but instead they were presented with bowl bans etc and couldn’t come to grips with what they did.

I wonder how long the hearing itself will take?

I can’t think that they’d dispute the allegations but are more so disputing the punishment?

that or they’re going to go the loophole theory we used to see when this was uncovered. The whole “well Conor himself didn’t go so technically those going to the games weren’t staff members”.

I bet they’re stupid enough to fight the allegations outright though.

Assuming a "hearing" is like a courtroom on TV, with a judge and everything, it'll take longer than it should. It SHOULD take about 15 minutes.
Most hearings take longer than they should because judges do enjoy the trappings of their power.

The way it should go is with the judge, panel in this case, doing all of the necessary reading ahead of time. If that has been done in this case, then all a fair and impartial judge would say is, “To the honorable representative from the university of Michigan, I have one question: Can you give me one reason why I shouldn’t have the bailiff shove your response to the NOA up your ass sideways before rendering the verdict?”

That’s it. That’s the whole hearing: (apart from the screaming)
