*2024 tCun Shenanigans, Arguments, Cobras, Feckless Marmots, Fake Pandas, Dirty Cheaters

I'm pretty sure that Vegas has already thoroughly investigated that and would have their scalps already if someone within the program had cleaned up. I think winning the "championships" and "beating" Ohio State was their sole motivation. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for Stalions or Corum much less Simple Jim to be heading to federal pound me in the ass prison, but I think that would have happened by now.

It was absolutely about beating Ohio State. They were coming off of 2 losses where they got hammered giving up 62 and 56 points and then tucking tail and quitting during COVID to avoid 3rd straight beatdown. They were in full on desperation mode coming out of that COVID season, and then Stallions came knocking on their door.

I agree that’s what their aim was but I do believe eventually they thought along the way “well might as well make some money too”.

I’m not an enormous conspiracy theory person but I think there was betting going on. More than likely having something to do with that shitty vacuum business with Blake Corum.

It would be interesting to actually find out if someone actually made "big bucks" the last 3 years betting on scUM and giving the points. I always thought that was a possibility.

I'm sure the initial motivation was to beat Ohio State; however, making a few bucks might just be some "icing on the cake". The betting didn't necessarily have to be in Vegas either. In addition, there are NCAA rules against NCAA coaches/players betting on NCAA games. I'm pretty sure that anyone at scUM wouldn't have made any bets in their name or their immediate family's name. I don't gamble so I'm not an authority on how it would work; but I believe it would be fairly easy to get friends (you can trust) to make the bets and/or set up "dummy accounts" for internet betting, etc.

Just speaking out my ass here.. I have no knowledge that I didn't learn on this forum.
But I expect that there were some boosters involved, at least in the start-up. You don't easily pay for people to go to all these football games in your 20's... or however old Stalions is/was. Then you have some nerds studying the footage for some time.. that's time that they weren't working, so they need to be paid for that time. Either the school, itself, was involved, or boosters were involved.
Boosters are normal people. When people know that their team has an advantage, they're going to look to profit off that knowledge. And with gambling becoming more and more legal (I don't know if it is legal in that state, but I'm sure it isn't hard to call a buddy to put some money on a game, if it isn't), I find it very difficult to believe that no one took advantage of Vegas with this going down.

I think Corum funded the scouting operation with his NIL money and laundered it through the Wyoming LLC.

As far as the gambling thing goes, I think the first thing the B1G did was call in the Vegas firm that's the go to investigators for that kind of crap. Maybe they found something and everyone's waiting to drop it when everything else hits, but I truly believe that if Vegas got wind of something like that they call in the FBI immediately and don't do things on the ncaa's notoriously slow timetable.

If Scum gets off easy, is it irrational of me to be very angry with Gene Smith for ceding the kingdom to the NCAA, not once but two times?
Is he really responsible for tcun getting to complete their season? I think the burden of that blame falls on Sparty for playing that weekend after the scandal broke. I don't know what their rationale was...not wanting to lose the revenue of a home game, getting strong armed by the network or not wanting to give tcun a reason to fuck with them in the MI legislature? Who knows. I just know that if they'd have said "fuck this; we're not playing them" it might have ended their run right then and there.

As for turning Tressel in, I've always supported him for that. One doesn't get to criticize Ono and Manuel while at the same time saying "we should have done the same thing."

Nothing to do with Smith's actions during Scum. I am referring to Tress and what led to Meyers departure.
