They're going to vacate three seasons and be banned from the Big Ten Championship Game this year...
When a team cheats "off the field" – recruiting violations, academic scandals, that sort of thing – then wins are vacated. Off the field cheating potentially allows a team to build a better roster, but it doesn't directly affect the integrity of the competition (note the Big Ten's usage of similar language with respect to the Michigan sign stealing affair).

However, when a team cheats "on the field" – typically by knowingly using an ineligible player (see Alabama, 1993) – then wins are forfeited. On the field cheating definitely affects the integrity of the competition (and the accuracy of betting lines) and it is treated much more seriously.

What's the difference between vacating and forfeiting? When the winning team vacates a win, the losing team still retains the loss. When the winning team forfeits a win, the losing team gets credited for a win.

If Michigan's actions gave them an unfair advantage in games that they won – in other words, if they affected the integrity of the competition – then they should be forced to forfeit all of those games.

Yeah, there's lots photos and video of Porn Name Marine being on the sidelines working with Jimbo and other coaches. And as someone else mentioned, he always had a giant binder in his hands.

Lots of random guys stand around the head coach on game day with a huge binder full of useless information that the coach knows nothing about.

Pretty common really

Disagree. If true, they should be punished to the maximum penalty. Which should include bowl bans and reduction in scholarships. In addition to Jumbo being fired and vacating all wins over the past 3 years. No mercy rule here.
Hey you don’t have to twist my arm. I’m all for everything you said.

At a minimum, they should end their season, Harbaugh fired and the last 2 seasons vacated.

30 games? Video evidence and a significant paper trail? Their season might end right now.

It should.

Fuck them. If it means not playing them? I could care less. End their season now.
I strongly disagree with ending their season now. Why punish the poor players?
Fire Harbaugh. Fire the OC, who had to know what was going on. Fire the DC, who had to know what was going on. Fire the position coaches, who should have known what was going on. Then let those poor players lose every remaining game on their schedule.
Raze the stadium and salt the field.
