I can’t imagine Ono sticking his neck out for anyone or anything, so I’m kind of perplexed as to what his objective is. Maybe he figures he can delay long enough to let TSUN to get a shot at their championship, then start throwing people under the bus in 2024.
Ono is in a difficult position. He can’t ignore the conversation and has to back the school’s rep while appearing to insist on due process.

He missed the need to fire an extremely popular b-ball coach at Cincinnati, but his foot is squarely in the middle of the cow paddy. He can scape some of it off but the stink is gonna linger.

I seem to remember two Ohio State Preaidents (three if you count a basketball scandal) saying "fuck rep and how about we do what's right and take our lumps."

JuggalOno is in the midst of the must unprofiles in courage that college athletics has seen in a long time.

This is similar to what I was thinking, but about the Big Ten. I saw someone mention that the Big Ten doesn't want to punish a contender because that would diminish the importance of The Game this year. Fox doesn't want them to diminish a possible 1 vs 2 game. So... they won't punish M*ch*gan... yet...
The Big Ten likes to claim to be a group of world-class universities, who also have football teams. This is different from the SEC, who has football teams, and maybe some universities. How about the Big Ten shows off the integrity of the conference by punishing the team that is guilty. Quality of football shouldn't play into the punishment phase of the game...

I didn't live in the country during the 90's, and I know that there wasn't a constant flow of information going out over the interweb tubes. However, did the tcun act like this (denials, stonewalling, legal threats) when the Fab 5 shit broke? Or, is this the result of the "leadership" of JuggalOno?
You know, after thinking about this a bit, it may have something to do with why tCun is behaving this way. They did Steve Fisher dirty back then and still regret making him the fall guy to this day. When the official report came out years later, the NCAA absolved Fisher. Whoops.

That's why, in my opinion, you suspend him indefinitely. Call it "with pay" if you want. If it comes out that he's cool, you put him back in the spot. If he's not, you tell him to eat a turd when the paychecks stop.

so with UM apparently lining up their lawyers to file a lawsuit once Jim is suspended…

I guess their claim is “he didn’t know”.

So if they’re insisting that Jim not be punished because he didn’t know. Could they not just shut down their team instead then?

I mean someone has to pay for them doing this. It wasn’t just 1 guy doing this for his own purposes. He literally told the coordinators what was coming.

 Ohio state is nothing without Michigan! Michigan leaving would sink the B1G! Beautiful self importance

Um, what do those cocksuckers think they would be without games against Ohio State? Do they think Notre Dame rivalry revamped would make up for it? No in state rivalry or games against Minnesota, USC, Oregon, etc.

I am sure the networks would jump all over TCSUN vs Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech or Texas Tech, Baylor, and Cincinnati

Agree. You can only suspend him pending the investigation.

Anything more severe is an admission that he is guilty of something, and since the investigation involves cheating you would have to take action relevant to games played. How do you do that?

The image in my mind is Harbaugh, Petiti, Ono, and the NCAA all standing around with guns pointed at one another daring somebody to shoot first so they can start litigation.

At this point I am reluctantly OK with the suspension and letting the chips fall where they may in terms of game outcomes. Worst case is they return the trophies (including at least two B1G Championship trophies) next year and tne NCAA dismantles their program for the next decade. And since it is a "competitive advantage" issue all games are forfeits, not vacates.
