There's 0.0 chance any kind of NCAA punishment comes down before 2024. It's a bureaucracy. The onus is on the B1G and the CFP committee. They have the power to mitigate any damage allowing scUM to play may/will cause. I'm looking to next week as I suspect this week is info gathering, then they act somehow next week. I'm curious how voters vote next week once they've had time to digest all of this information. I suspect most of them won't change because they're cowards/morons.

This feels different. The discovery was handed to the NCAA late last week. B1G sends out notice immediately and NCAA is on tcun’s campus the following week. Subjectively speaking, this is some warp speed stuff as far as the NCAA is concerned.

Agree. I think the NCAA recognizes the gravity of what Harbaugh has done, which is why they've acted as quickly as they have; however, given that NCAA bylaws will give tsun 90 days to respond to the notice of violations, it gives Simple Jim a get out of free card, since he's clearly going to make another run at the NFL.

They need to get a notice of violations out fast, and then the B1G needs to use that to hammer tsun with their own sanctions immediately. B1G needs to come in with forfeits and suspensions, and the CFP committee needs to keep tsun at #5. The latter can tell the networks to pound sand and that viewership will suffer if the vast majority of fans think tsun has rigged the games. It's no longer just a B1G concern since tsun has now been shown to fuck with SEC teams too.

Eh, hopefully that signals they're expediting things, but I have almost zero faith in the NCAA to handle this competently and swiftly.

I expect the Coaches poll to have more of a reaction. Maybe not this week, it's probably still filtering out.
AP writers might respond if people are vocal on social media.

I'm not so sure viewership suffers. Controversy creates interest. A huge number of people will likely tune in to see the dirty cheaters get their comeuppance.

The B1G took some unprecedented steps last week.

This isn't some potential recruiting violation - the integrity of B1G games has been called into question. They want that to go away ASAP.

I am resigned to maybe no action being taken until December because these things never proceed in a timely manner. I am okay with it because I think the Buckeyes have the defense to stymie their offense this year and just enough offense, so I'm confident in a victory for the good guys (whoah, football analysis!). The longer they wait to inflict penalties the longer the asterisk follows TCUN around.

They should be made to replace the little skunkbears on their helmets with asterisks.
