The “sign stealing is legal so it shouldn’t matter how you do it” argument is just the dumbest argument.

So Drunk driving should be ok because driving is legal?
Murder should ok because dying isn’t illegal?

The more I think of this… the more I won’t understand a light punishment.

This is corruption. This is literally a cartel of people fixing games.

The pony express got the death penalty for buying players. That doesn’t impact games like this does.

So why should Michigan get anything less? They literally corrupted how many games and they’ll get to finish the year potentially? No way, these ass holes need to have their year ended now. Then they need to figure out what to do with them going forward once the season is over.

The main issue is they won’t want to punish someone innocent but if there’s reams of data to support this they need to move now and the add to the penalty later.
Networks (and thus the B1G) won't allow a death penalty. That being said, I'll settle for nuking the program into irrelevance for a decade or more: bowl bans, scholarship reductions and long show-causes for Harbaugh and the coordinators. Ten years of 4-8 seasons and them watching us get to 1000 first will satiate my bloodlust.

The only thing I care about right now is that the game has a level playing field this year. With the information they have, it'll be next to impossible for any conference opponent to beat them. There may be ways around it, but every one of them involve the opposing team taking time out of their practice to either try and use a different system, or to restrict themselves in game by only using a huddle and eliminating most audibles.

I know the games won't be canceled, so in my mind you have to suspend all staff involved and ban them from the CCG. I know that won't happen, but they'll continue to have a significant advantage otherwise. Schools need to keep raising hell.

1.) There are rules in place. ttun is apparently breaking some of those rules. They should be punished.

2.) "The rules are stupid." That may be, but they're still rules.

3.) "Everybody is doing it." Are there any FAX and Evidents implicating any other teams? No? Then that is not relavent here.

4.) "There was no competitive advantage gained." Then why were they doing it?

5.) "If they just went to in-helmet communications, like the NFL, this wouldn't be an issue." Perhaps. But in-helmet comms are not permitted in collge. See #1

I definitely think helmet mics would help alot. I agree they need them.

People are either purposefully, or through massive stupidity, conflating stealing signals during a game, which “everyone does,” and using a vast network of people to record the signals at all of your opponents games throughout the season to give you a massive advantage in the thing “everyone does” during the game.

Don't worry, he has a robust t-shirt business on Etsy.

Deace is broken. He admits that he doesn't care what they did no matter what it is, and then proceeds to make weak, bad-faith arguments to try and cover his tracks. "They did nothing wrong, but if they did, I don't care because everyone does bad things."

If Michigan had a sniper in the press box taking out players, he would defend it. The guy is beyond desperate to believe that Michigan was dominating without a massive cheating operation. When this all comes down on their heads, I'm not sure he'll survive without breaking all of the equipment in his studio.
Totally aligns with what that chode does for his day job.

Fucking hell now THIS is fresh.

The NCAA is actually responsible for ethical rot of the sports. It’s not Michigan and their cheating

I feel like I am screaming in the woods as no one seems to care that the NCAA bylaws fail to address actual theft of proprietary information and focuses only on a method used to commit deed.

This is akin to arresting and charging a burglar for using a crowbar in the commission of a burglary rather than for the act of burglary itself.

If there was really any concern over the integrity of the game the bylaws would also forbid signal stealing outright(regardless of the near impossibility of preventing that). But they don’t which to me says a lot about the concerns over the integrity of the game.

This is just another example of the ethical rot at the core of this sport.

This is my personal favorite. The results prior to 2021 compared to since directly contradict this. They're trying to argue that Simple Jim, the guy they wanted to run out of town on a rail after years of underachieving and an absolutely dreadful 2020 season suddenly became an elite coach and the God of halftime adjustments. They know what they did, they know it was wrong, they're just rationalizing.

Agreed. If Purdue was doing it AND they had the success M*ch*gan has had, I'd absolutely care. If Alabama was doing it or Georgia or Clemson or Boise or Texas Tech or anyone - if anyone is doing it and we can all point to that as the reason for their success, I'd care. If anyone did it and they had the level of play that Purdue has had, he's right - I wouldn't care, because it'd show that they aren't doing anything effective.

His second statement ("If you didn't know a rule existed before the story, you can't be outraged by it") is the best. I mean, imagine that there's a rule that you can molest kids in a locker room at university facilities. No where else is it legal, but in a locker room at university facilities, it's allowed. You say that you didn't know that that was a rule? Well, you can't be outraged by that fact, now.
I agree with Cowturd on the whole not knowing a rule allows you extra latitude.

After all, if you don't know something is illegal you never get prosecuted for it.

I pose.. is it LEGAL to have a buddy stand behind someone you're playing poker against
who then signals to you what's in his hand?

Ignoring honesty, morals and ethics I guess...

Where's the laptops this kid was using cuz it's gonna be the Hunter laptop of scUM football
Find it and destroy it ASAP else it's gonna cave your football pgm..
and I highly suspect IT nerds are involved... ex military can be great sleuths but no chance he created the necessary algorithms to pull this off on his own
