2023 Bowl Games Discussion

Here's an interesting one: College football news has OSU in the Fiesta Bowl vs Missouri (LINK)

Fiesta Bowl | Ohio State vs. Missouri

What an incredible season for the Missouri Tigers. Eli Drinkwitz’s team is well-positioned to make the NY6 after comfortably defeating rival Arkansas in Week 13. Our 2023 college football bowl projections pair them with Ohio State, who are likely to miss out on the final four after their loss to Michigan in Week 13. It’s a disappointing consolation prize for the Buckeyes.

A completely meaningless bowl stuck against some shitty ACC team would just sour a already sour ending to this season even more

This is a wildly arrogant, scUM level like attitude. Louisville has a solid team this season, and it's the Orange Bowl. It's not the Outback Bowl, it's not the Cheez-It Bowl. It's a damn near 100 year institution. And if we didn't want to be there, maybe tOSU should have won that last game against those pricks.

Go back to work beating scUM, and it start with bowl prep where you can get valuable and meaningful practices in for younger players. And maybe these coaches can find it within themselves to have better rotations of younger guys throughout the season to help keep the starters fresh.

scUM getting the red carpet treatment to a slaughter at the hands of UGA in the NCG in that scenario (FSU sans their star QB). Hopefully Kirby treats them like Butch and Marsellus treated Zed in 'Pulp Fiction.'
I think we want Georgia and Oregon to win and FSU to lose. That should create a tcun-Oregon game, and I think Oregon plungers them. In any event, UGA would be waiting for them in the final. Now, if Iowa can pull off the miracle, that probably drops tcun to 4th, and they'd get UGA in the semi.

More like no pay-ee no play-ee. Those bowls have plenty of money to pay the MHJrs of the world to play. If you want eyeballs on your non-CFP games then pony up.
Even then, I don't know that they'd take it. MHJ, Stover and of course Henderson have all been injury prone this year. I don't see any amount of money being worth it to risk an injury in a meaningless bowl game before the draft. Sucks, but it's the world we live in.

You're exactly right - but the leverage is (appropriately) with the producers vs the capital and the decision is theirs. If the Orange bowl wants the eyeballs then pay up and make sure the stars are there.

Speaking of which, this is what can happen when you lose The Game. You become Louisville's Super Bowl and your stars opt out.

Yep.

It's a lose/lose game for Ohio State. Win and nobody cares, lose and you get mocked even though you are handicapped against a program playing their super bowl

If we ended up playing Bama or the Pac 12 loser it would be at least a tolerable conclusion considering the circumstances. But losing to scUM and then getting saddled playing some also ran ACC team in the bowl game. Woof. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Two years ago - when we went down there and kicked Michigan's ass in the playoff - Kirby remarked that it was the best bowl game (organization wise) he's ever been too. Stayed on south beach, practiced at the Dolphins complex and did some recruiting down there with S. Florida talent.

Weather is great and the team would be treated well. Orange Bowl is awesome

And it's the one we haven't been to the longest. A chance to erase that Clemson debacle
